It looked like ARam was running in slow motion.

What did he do? I'm "watching" this on gameday.

I don't talk to Pirate fans when they are owning us.

Just kidding...Ramirez hit a sinking liner into left and took his sweet time running to first while watching the ball. When he saw Bay dive and miss and trap it, he took off for second and made a horrible slide into second.

:D Thanks!

Aramis must have gotten used to loafing on the basepaths when he was injured last year cause now he always runs likes he's protecting an injured body part. That has to stop. He needs to run hard out of the box and he better practice his slides.

Thank you! I don't understand how professional athletes can be so fragile sometimes.

Nice K on Bay!

I'm disappointed in Aram's offseason conditioning program. He doesn't look any more buff than last year and he still runs like a fragile old man.

Man, Guzman looks really good in some innings, and really bad in others. I think a lot of it goes back to my Aardsma post.

I'm not ready to give up on him yet. Since there is nobody demonstrably better in AAA, might as well let him get some major league experience. I like what I've seen from him more than I do Rich Hill.

I don't know what your Aardsma post is, but I agree about Guzman. At time he looks filthy and in command of the hitters and then at other times he looks like Glendon Rusch.

Right now Guzman's line looks very similar to Marshall's line from his second start:

Guzman: 5IP, 4H, 4ER, 3BB, 7SO, 1HR

Marshall: 5IP, 5H, 4ER, 1BB, 2SO, 1HR

The only difference is more walks and strikeouts by Guzman. But the overall production is the same.

Oh he NEVER looks like Rusch, man. Guzman has filthy stuff. He's been struggling with control. Rush has bad stuff, but sometimes (in a great while) he's able to pitch okay when he has good control.

Guzman has been known for his outstanding control throughout his minor league career. I think he's still trying to find it after so a long layover due to injuries. I don't think that he's a pitcher that will always struggle with control...if that's any consolation.

Yup, that's the hope. He was struggling at AAA, he's obviously still working back from the missed time (which is why I was hoping the Cubs wouldn't promote him yet).

I meant the results look like Rusch's results. For example, Jeromy Burnitz going yard and then almost doing it a second time. Also, Chris Duffy (or whatever his name is) getting solid hits.

Question: As a general observation over the last few years, why do you think soft tossing lefties give the Cubs fits?

Talk amoungst yourselves...

Guzman has thrown 92 thru 5. Man, if he could only have more innings like the last one, he could really be something special.

Once again, we get a lead off runner only to have him erased by another DP...
