Only 75 pitches for the Kid. I say send him out for the 8th.

Not in a tie game, late. Dusty has to pinch hit for Marshall.

I'd rather have Marshall hit than Bynum, Neifi, or Blanco.

That's murderer's row.

It's not like it's going to matter. 1 or 2 innings of Marshall yet is worth more than 1 PH appearance, in which the batter will probably pop out.

I don't blame the umps. Make sure you get the damn tag Aramis!

No. If he goes to get Wilson, he doesn't get the runner at 2nd. It should have been a DP. The umps just blew it.

If you make sure you get the lead runner, they can't get a cheap run. I'd rather make sure we get the runner at 3rd than take a risk at a DP and let the man at 2nd advance to 3rd.

No. You have to expect the umpire will do his job. It wasn't as if Wilson took a single step outside the baseline. Aramis made the right play.

You can't expect the umpires to do anything. Always get the lead runner.

Our offense is brutal.

The lead runner is out, the umps are just to to call anything for the cubs.

FWIW, the Buc announcers speculated the ump was thinking that because he fielded the ball in the basepath, Wilson had to go around him.

They looked up the rule here and justified this.

He had already fielded it and was going to apply the tag, therefore, he was out. I hope we beat up on Santos next inning

He was heading wide before he fielded it. Check the replay again.

Still, the call could have gone either way.

No, he wasnt, he was still in the line.

It shouldn't of gone either way, there is no way he is safe when he is three feet outside the line.

I just stopped in and saw that on Sportsline and figured that had to be an error...no Cubs pitcher not named Maddux gets through 7 with less than 100 pitches

Shouldn't be any question.

Well, they might get to his spot in the order.

Wishful thinking.

Regardless of what happens this inning, Marshall's spot will come up. He was due up 3rd when the inning started.

Agreed. Especially with Dusty so concerned about overworking his pen.

Howry warming up, I'm guessing Marshall will get pinched here if Mabry gets out.

No, if he gets out, Marshall will probably be allowed to hit, if he gets on, then Marshall will be pinch hit for.

I'd think if he gets on, Marshall bunts him over.

And waste an out, making it two outs and needing a hit to get him in? that doesn't work.

Also, if Aram's effort at the tag wasn't so lazy, the ump would have called him out.

Still, as someone else pointed out (I forget who), you ALWAYS get the lead runner.

I don't like this. Hindsight nothwithstanding, but if Marshall gives up a run in the next inning it is a bad call IMO.
