the draft just got a whole lot more interesting now with the Texans selection of Williams. I have a feeling some team will be desperate enough to try to get Bush and will give up a ton to New Orleans to do that.

Green Bay is supposedly close to a deal with Denver in terms of trading Javon Walker.

i can't wait until tomorrow morning :D

You know what? A part of me is ecstatic that New Orleans has the option to draft Bush or accept a trade for a team that is desperate. Finally, something good could happen to the Saints. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see the Jets slide up. They'd be desperate enough, and then maybe Jets fans wouldn't boo the selection.

Saints are in a great position right now IMO with Houston selecting Williams over Bush. Like you said, they can either draft Bush or trade down and get a lot of value from the trading of the pick.

The NFL simply needs to impose a rookie salary cap (a la the NBA) and we'll never have to suffer through another hold out, outrageous salary demand or other such nonsense from newly drafted rookies. Get it done NFL!

This makes things very, very interesting.

The Saints might take that pick and trade it. Do they still have McAllister?

Young, not Leinert, is rumored to be taken by the Titans now. If Leinert falls to #5, I'd love to see the Packers take him and trade Rodgers for a pick or two. Wonder how high of a pick we'll get for Walker if that Denver rumor is true.

I hope DeAngello Williams is still there in the 2nd round. Ahman Green is just about done, IMO.

This is why I'm not a football GM.

The Saints really wacked alot of analysts out with their pickup of Brees, which basically negates them getting Young or Leinhart.

As a Saints fan, i'd like to see them perhaps trade their pick down and pickup Ferguson at OT. Saints have a decent defense but really need some offensive line help.

On the other hand, as much as I love Deuce (being a former Rebel athlete like myself), his recent injuries have made me question his durabilty as a full-time back. So, Reggie Bush wouldn't be a back pickup either.

Either way, the Saints should get someone great out of this.

If DeAngelo gets past Carolina at #27 (especially if they choose LenDale White instead), I will light myself on fire.

Agreed, Williams has to be a first-rounder.

and that is why the texans are not even close to a winning franchise. pass up the most explosive and talented offensive player to come around in a long, long time......just stupid.

I suggest the Saints, Titans, and Jets all stick to their strategy (ie not picking guys named Bush) and let him fall to number five just to teach him a lesson.

Wasn't this the same guy who said that under NO circumstances did he want to play in Green Bay? Or was that just a rumor?

Ya, Dusty told him he wouldn't play well in the cold of Green Bay.

Sorry... Just HAD to do it.

Wonder who the Packers want so bad they'd trade up.

Walker and the 5th pick for the 2nd pick is an interesting scenario. New Orleans was interested in Walker even before Williams was signed by Houston, so I'm not discounting that possiblity out. We have to get the #2 pick because if we don't, I believe the Jets will move up and take Bush which would leave the Saints with Hawk while we get shut out of the guys that I wanted.

If we don't get Reggie or Hawk, I'd look for us to possibly trade down.

Keep it and take whichever of Leinert or Young is still on the board. You could trade Rodgers and the 2nd-round pick for a lower 1st rounder. Or you could keep Rodgers and still take a talented player early in the 2nd round.

Is giving up Javon Walker worth just 3 spots in the draft? I know he wants out, but it seems like we could get more. Getting Javon Walker AND the 5th pick in the draft would mean the Saints made out like bandits.

believe it or not, that is probably the best we could do with Walker. Thompson I guess was trying to trade him to Denver for their late 1st round pick, but they wouldn't do it. Supposedly they would have done it for a 2nd and a 4th round pick, but not a 1st rounder. Walker's value has really dropped since he tore his ACL and since he has become a somewhat minature TO lately as well.

I'd like a QB, but not one of the big 3..more like someone like a Brodie Croyle or someone even on the 2nd day. I don't believe in using our high 1st round pick on a QB this year especially since we haven't even seen what Rodgers can really do yet.

Man, here the homer in me was hoping we'd be able to unload Walker and the 2nd round pick for #2 overall, get Bush, then go to 5 and get Ferguson if he was still there. Or, failing that, Leinert.

Yeah, I'm a hopeless idiot. I know that.

I'm hearing rumors that the Saints are talking about trading the pick to the Jets for the Jets' two first round picks.

I see this as the most likely scenario. Saints don't fall too hard, get their draft picks, and after the Titans take their QB, the Saints still get who they originally targeted at 4.

It's not a given that Bush is going to be a star in the league. Remember that LenDale White, not Bush was the best USC running back in the Rose Bowl. Bush wasn't able to rely on just his speed to get past the Texas defence which was the first defense close to a pro level in terms of speed that Bush faced last year. Could I see Bush being one of the greatest running backs of all time? Yes. But is that a guarantee? Absolutely not. I could just as easily see him being an average running back and a return specialist. Every pro team has speed on defense because generally you have to be fast to play defense in the NFL. Bush being a fixture at the Pro Bowl is most definately not a sure thing.
