will be leaving the minor leagues . . . but not headed to Tampa. I think at least 60 games should be given for assaulting an umpire - no matter how softly he threw the bat. That is just not acceptable.

Its going to be very interesting to see how much this blows up. I am guessing a minimum of 45, and won't be suprised to see it go for the entire season. Hell the city might try to bring on assult charges. Not to mention a big ass bitch slap from his big brother.

I have heard stories that this guy is a real prick, guess they might be pretty accurate.

Tampa Bay hasn't had much luck with top-rated prospects, first Josh Hamilton and now Young.

Not an impressive record for sports in Durham, NC lately, first with the Duke lacrosse scandal and now the Young incident. Surprisingly, there was absolutely no mention of this on my local news tonight.

I think they should call him up to the bigs!!!! I maybe biased though.

i'm guessing that's not the punishment they're considering.

Yeah, I'm sure it's not. It will actually probably cost him an early call-up, if a call-up this year at all.

Holy Crap! I just saw the video - that bat was thrown hard. It honestly wouldn't bother me if he was banned from baseball. Assault on an umpire is a huge huge deal to me.

ESPN, check about page 3 of the thread on the incident in Minor Leagues.

I saw it on ESPNEWS - while he may not have intended to hurt the umpire, where do you draw the line? players should not be assaulting umpires with bats or anything else. I think an example needs to be made.

I think the rest of the year would be fair, as well.

I forgot to mention the bitch move by Carlos yesterday to Murton.

i'm very sick of his antics. of course, he's a god whose every move is 'cool' to most of this board, so i try to keep that opinion to myself.

Yeah, he did show up Murton for getting caught at the corner of the well. I didn't care for that either. Let's see, he expects Murton to be flawless, yet he can be ineffective without getting shown up.

huh?

Murton took a poor angle on a ball that took an odd bounce in the corner as well as a bad angle on a liner over his head. Carlos made a gesture with his glove towards Murton.

He shopuld've been focusing on how not to keep his FB up and how not to fall apart again rather than singling out Murton.

Plus, I could be getting old and bitter!

Delmon's eligible to return to the minor league line-up on Monday. We'll see if his suspension killed his shot at a call-up this year!
