nice that Gooz will get his debut against a AAA team, good timing to hopefully give the kid a big boost

Yeah. Best opportunity for Guzman to enter the big leagues and make a mark. Hopefully he pitches well.

I think what nd is trying to say is that it's a proven fact that Indians don't like the Cubs.

I'm also disappointed I'll miss the game because of work. I babysit, so maybe we'll be inside and we can forego JoJo's Circus for one day to watch the game. Then I can teach the 2-year old about the Cubs. I've gotten her to say "Cubs" and "Z!!!" before.

Miss JoJo's Circus????!?! What a travesty!

How will you know what she learned today??

You can get some pretty darn good seats right now. And it's a value game.

Hopefully I'll get to see him on the 2nd.

Kind of off topic - Jon, your sig pic of Guzman at first glance looks like he's crossing his fingers: "Boy I hope I don't get injured again!"

The pic was from last spring, so that wouldn't have worked too well.

indians, generally speaking, would have preferred hill starting tomorrow instead of guzman.

This Indian would have preferred Hill.

hahahahahahahahaha

Mee too.

That's the coolest avatar I've ever seen.

I think we all have been waiting to see Guzman start for a loooong time now. I'm just hoping he doesn't get injured during warmups and somebody has to take his place

This Indian prefers the GOOZ. Hills fastball is deficient and I think Gooz has better command of his pitches, plus he has a way greater upside. We've been waiting for Gooz since 2003 and for one am pumped for this outing. Hopefully he can keep things under control and not get too amped up.

The reason I'd rather see Hill is that Guzman is still working off the rust from barely pitching the past 2 years. Pitching in the big leagues for the first time is a jump, and for someone working his way back from injury, it's even tougher.

I understand your point. I just want to see gooz so badly. Know what I mean?

Hopefully, he'll pitch so well, they'll bump him up to the 1st.

Nice. Surely my marketing management professor will understand why I won't be in class tomorrow.

My astronomy professor probably won't, being as she's Indian. But I'll skip class anyway.

Now if Angel Guzman was making his cricket debut against Pakistan, she wouldn't be there...

I for one am glad it's Guzman over Hill. Hill may be off to a better start, but how many opportunities have we had to start a healthy Guzman? Furthermore, although some may not agree with me, I think you treat Guzman like a major league pitcher who is rehabing, so you don't really look at the numbers as much. He's proven he's a big league starter to me over the years despite not making his debut until now.

I just hope people don't have too high of expectations for him that he couldn't posslbly live up to. I would be satisfied if he looked as good as Marshall did in his first start. I am not so worried about the numbers as much as seeing his comfort level on the mound.

I'm willing to see him give up a hit or two, and maybe one run, but that's it.

No walks. Oh, and he had better go all 9.

8 2/3 is fine by me.

Perfect cuz then Dempster can get another save for my fantasy team.

You can't get a save in a 38-0 game.

Agreed. I don't have high expectations for this game. He wasn't consistent in AAA and even he admitted that he was surprised to get promoted. I just hope he keeps the team in the game because I think the wind will be blowing out today (and those guys hit a number of balls hard last night that might have been homers if the wind wasn't blowing in at 18 mph).

Well Gooz will leave it at 38-0, but then [expletive] McRusch will come in to get some work and give up 35 runs in 0.0 innnings, and then Dempster will get the save.
