Why do they ratchet up their scoring for his games? Is it from some unconcious drive to make up for his poor pitching?

Is that why whenever Zambrano starts the Cubs put up crap for runs ? They feel too secure in his pitching?

Nah...

Nah...

Actually, Zambrano's run support before tonight's game was 2/3 of a run greater than the team's average output. (5.75 R/G to 5.12). In any case, it's an abberation. It has more to do with a myriad of ofther factors, most notably the lack of a substantial sample size. Over time, it usually evens out.

Worthless stats of the day for Tuesday.......

CUBS are 10-3 when they draw at least 2 walks.... 1-6 when they don't

CUBS are 10-3 when they score at least 4 runs.... 0-4 when they don't

Not to be nitpicky again Fred, but the first stat you have shows the Cubs having played 20 games and the second you have shows we have only played 17 games. The Cubs have played 18 games. Like last time, I may be misinterpreting your stats.

Definitely looks like a bug in the program. Oh well..... back to old drawing board.

edit: seems like both stats should be 10-3 and 1-4. Now, to find where bug is !!!

Neifi Perez started at second on Monday but Jerry Hairston Jr. was expected to start Tuesday and Wednesday against Florida's left-handers.

"Everybody's going to play," Baker said, "and it's going to be day to day. That's how it is. We have to adjust. I spend more time making out lineups -- more time than I normally do."

You know what would make it easier to fill out the lineup?

Never considering Neifi to start.

Dude saved us with that great catch in the 9th. Did you see that arm pump and ball toss? I love Neifi!!

Pretty impressive at Wrigley Field, unfortunately. Thing that stands out to me is the zero homers in 26 innings pitched. Hopefully the Cubs put an end to that tonight.

That's encouraging, but why do I get the feeling that Cedeno wont be playing in both of the next two games?

No, no, Cedeno is going to play. I think he embedded himself in the number 2 slot.

Because one of Neifi's MANY talents is that he's a switch hitter :(

I would be pretty disapointed if Cedeno didn't start today. I would like Hairston at second base, also. Man, oh man, it would be great to steal this game. Come on Cubs!

What Dusty didn't say is that Hairston will start in center with Perez still at 2B.

As Bad as Dusty sometimes is...I don't expect him to go with 4 outfielders and no SS. :D
