Bowden is the dumbest GM around...we should take advantage.

I'd do that in a heartbeat, though I don't know Johnson's contract situation, and where would he play come late-June?

Knowing Johnson's history, he'll likely get hurt around late June so it really isn't a problem.

Better hurry up and make this deal cause it sounds like Bowden's days are numbered:

Suntimes

When legitimate owners finally are unveiled for the Washington Nationals this week, look for the merged group headed by real estate developer Ted Lerner and former Braves president Stan Kasten to get the winning bid. Kasten is expected to serve as team president, handling day-to-day operations. Current team president Tony Tavares is likely out. Manager Frank Robinson probably will be replaced after this season. General manager Jim Bowden likely is out after his DUI arrest last weekend in Miami Beach, Fla.

There's virtually no chance of any deal like that being made.

A 5th starter/bullpen arm for the Nat's best hitter? Yeah, not going to happen. I don't care who is the GM.

Maybe Hendry should have contacted Bowden immediately after the DUI arrest. Maybe Bowden was drunk enough to agree to it at the time. :D

Hendry could have traded a box of Ramon noodles for Johnson. :D

I doubt the OP was serious - just making fun of Bowden.

You better not be serious. The DH is the stupidest rule ever.

Agreed, please dont ever even use DH and NL in the same sentence.

No it's not. The DH gives the AL a unique look. Believe it or not...while both the AL/NL are under the banner or the MLB, the two leagues are still competing with one another for fans, etc. The DH is as AL and apple pie. DH is not a stupid rule, the DH in the NL, is the stupidest thing I've heard.

The DH is completely ridiculous. I couldn't ever root for an AL team strictly because of the DH. It's like arcade baseball.

How would Ramon feel about that?

Well I think it's useful b/c teams have to stress middle-relief less, b/c they can keep their starters in the game since they don't have to pull them for a bat when they're behind, and it can help keep players fresh

I think they SHOULD be used in the same sentence. As in "The NL will never adopt the DH." :D

I like the fact that middle relief is part of the game, especially now that the Cubs have a strong bullpen. The DH takes a lot of the strategy and thinking out of the game, with the DH you might as well call it beer league softball.

Baseball, as defined by the person who created it is, "9 men fielding, 9 men batting." not 9 men fielding all but one of them batting, using a substitute for the pitcher. The American league does not even play baseball in its true form. There is a special place in the 9th level of hell for the person who created the DH.

Thats the last I will say about the DH, thank you

This is certainly true, which is why I think Dusty should go to the AL.

But I'm still totally against the DH, in any league. There's just nothing I can do about it in the AL.

What's AL stand for anyways?

To me, it stands for the "Alternative League," i.e. the alternative to real Major League Baseball.
