If you reach on an error does that get included in your OBP? Probably not since you are technically considered out but I was wondering.

It lowers your BA as though it were an out, so it must lower your OBP as well, no?

Yes, Rolen nabbed tryinh to steal.

5 for 18 for Barrett is really bad throwing out runners.

at least 2 of those are on failed hit and runs - basically gimme's.

so he's really around 3 for 16, or around 20%.

And how many other catchers have nabbed guys on busted hit and runs? Should we look at their adjusted thrown out % as well?

Don't get so defensive. I simply stated a fact.

Don't get so defensive. I asked two questions regarding your method of stating these facts.

Is there an echo? Should we look at an adjusted ratio? Why not? It'd be a much more accurate assessment of a catcher's ability to throw out a basestealer.

Barrett is typically below average in throwing out basestealers. Nothing I've seen so far this year changes that. A couple botched hit and runs inflated his CS ratio. He'll regress to career averages.

Personally, I think Barrett's bat more than makes up for this deficiency.

It *doesn't* lower your BA. It does lower your OBP, as that's taken from total plate appearances.

if the cubs want to give up outs, at least let it be pierre getting thrown out trying to steal. at least there's a chance that could be productive.
