Over, under...it still hurt.

Did he leave the game?

No, he was fine. The shortstop's back foot caught Pie on the side of the head after getting the inning-ending force at second. Felix was on the ground and holding his head for a little bit, though.

Peoria wins 2-1 in 10. Veal's best game, 9 K's and 3 hits, a wild pitch, and just one walk in 6 innings, and he kept the ball down, with more groundouts than his previous 3 games put together, I think.

Two hits for Johnston to get up over .300, Kyle Reynolds played 3rd and went 4-4. Matt Avery and Jeff Teasley both effective in relief, Teasley with 4 K's in 2 innings.

I thought Donnie Veal looked *great* for Peoria tonight. Craig mentioned the highlights, but the thing I was most impressed with was the number of strikes he was throwing. Before tonight, he was going deep into many counts, and did so in several innings. Tonight he had one tougher inning, but came back the next inning and snapped out of it.

Hope to see much, much more this season!

The other person that impressed me tonight was our new 3rd baseman, Kyle Reynolds. He was 4 for 4 at the plate, but also snagged a ball from 3rd and made a heck of a throw to 2nd to start a double play.

The energy was great at the ballpark tonight.

Go Chiefs!

Horrific game by DJaxx tonight. JR Mathes was challenging hitters, and his defense was letting him down.

Moore, Rojas, Richie, and Walker had no idea what was going on in the field. Rojas spent the better part of the game letting the ball play him. Moore was 2 steps late for everything hit his way (except one liner he ranged to his left for). Walker was just kind of hanging out. Richie was bullfighting behind the plate.

A couple of positives. Patterson actually uses 2 hands at 2b...maybe he could teach his brother that. he also had a ringing single. he looks to be really quick and has a build very similar to his brother.

Greenberg did a good job out in RF and was busy in the 2nd half of the game.

Reyes has some skills and might make it to the show. He threw out a runner at 3b from his knees on a straight double steal (although the replacement ump called him safe as he was making the call from 2b...for the love of god, the ball beat the runner by 2 feet). That call really cost us the game, or an outside shot of it.

The left handed reliever who threw the ninth also has some skills, just needs to work on his offspeed pitch to go with the fastball. it looked like a slider that he was working on, but he was having trouble consistently spotting it.

The umpires were awful, as they are replacements i guess. The 1b ump managed to cost the Lookouts 2 additional runs by missing a foul line call. He blew 3 in total. The 3b ump missed 2 calls. The homeplate ump was calling low and to the left side. He was fairly consistent upsetting both sides, but missed that last K in the 9th to Hoffpauir by a foot. I couldnt believe that call.

My biggest gripe of the evening was the Jaxx managing. I realize it was the 16th game and Herr was only batting .225, but no way should he have gotten a ball to hit in the 2nd (which he did for a 3 run jack) with first base open and 2 outs. Skipper should have walked him and set up the lefty lefty matchup with Senchez who was on deck.

Parting gift for the evening for the Cub fans in attendance explains my life of misery as a Cub fan. the DJaxx section (111) was selected for the Advanced Auto Wipe Out Award. Since Mr Moore didnt have a clue that we were playing a game tonight (0-4 with 3ks and a whopping 15ft cue shot to the pitcher with runners on 1st and 2nd and 2 out), his strike out in the 6th won us all a free bottle of windshield wiper fluid. yipee, finally rewarded for the lousy play all these years....who knew.

6 scouts in the crowd- including one from the Cubs, Brewers, and Reds.

Drafted out of Baylor. Here are his stats at Baylor and the minors last season.
