Rusch has got to go deep in the game today. The bullpen got totally taxed yesterday. This staff needs to start going deep in the game more consitantly or they will be doomed. If Rusch gets beat up early he is going to be in for a looong day. He wont pitch anything less than 5IP today. Dusty will show no mercy because he cant.

Well, Len Kasper was on Talkin' Baseball earlier this morning. He didn't have the lineup in front of him, but said this is how it looked from memory

Pierre CF

Cedeno SS

Walker 2B

Aramis 3B

Mabry 1B (I *think* he was 5th, he was definitely in at 1B)

Jones RF (may be switched with Mabry)

Murton LF

Blanco C

Rusch P

why?

why on earth does jones still get to bat in front of murton?

Okay one hour until game time, I don't know about you guys but everytime I think about todays game I sigh, I'm ready to watch baseball but am not real excited about todays game because I fear the worst.

Len said it was tentative and I'm hoping I got his tentative lineup right (I was listening while driving and talking on the speakerphone). The top of the lineup is definite - there was much talk about Walker batting 3rd. Levine thought it was a huge mistake, since Walker 1) has done so well as #2 and 2) has never been a run producer before. Levine wanted Murton 3rd.

Kasper thought Dusty was hesitant to put Murton #3 because it would be a lot of pressure for his first full season (though Murton batted cleanup once already, didn't he?).

I would think that Dusty would put Murton between Mabry & Jones to have the L-R-L setup.

I'm glad that Dusty isn't rushing Murton into the #6 spot. It might kill his confidence if he went 0-4.

It'll be interesting to see how Ronny handles the two hole. Good lineup for the most part, but I wonder how crappy KoJock needs to be before he is demoted to 7th.

Ok, last night loss can be contributed to the fog of losing the Cubs best player. Today they just need to step it up and win.

I actually like this line-up except for Jones hitting ahead of Murton but I like Walker in the 3 spot with Lee out, he's not going to hit homers like Lee but he will get on base and extend innings for us.

Why is Blanco catching. We need all the offence we can get.

On the bright side Cedeno is batting 2nd, which is loooong past overdue.

Hopefully since he and Walker are both pretty hot can get some runs going.

But our middle of the order is especially meh. :?

So when Murton gets on base we have Blanco and Rusch to drive him in.

That's encouraging.

OBP isn't important.

You just get a bunch of fat guys clogging the basepath.

Who wants that?

By the same token, when Walker, Ramirez and/or Mabry get on (and after Jones inevitably strikes out) we have Murt to drive them in.

But Murton should definitely be batting fifth in this lineup. You'd think matchup-loving Dusty would at least put Murt sixth to split up the lefties. :?

Totally.

Dusty must be in a daze with Lee out. Then again, is he ever not in a daze?
