Dusty Baker has made this our lineup:

Pierre

Cedeno

Bynum

Ramirez

Mabry

Jones

Pitcher

Blanco

Neifi

Fire him. Please. Now.

Average OPS of these 8: .621

And that's with Ronny and Mabry off to hot starts.

Awful, awful lineup.

These things don't happen to all teams. How many starts did White Sox pitchers miss last year? How about Cardinals pitchers? How many injuries other than Jeter/Huckaby and Giambi's steroids infection have the Yanks dealt with since 2001? Other than Schill's bloody sock, what serious problems has Boston had in the last couple of years?

These things DON'T happen to all teams. 6-foot-6 man-children do not get their wrists fractured by people who are smaller than my 13-year-old brother. It just doesn't happen.

Last year Rolen was ran over by Choi and was done for the year.

The curse thing gets old.

Sure it gets old but, how many starts did Carpenter and Mulder miss last season?

Exactly the point. And how many starts did Wood and Prior miss last season? And the Cubs, once again, foolishly thought those two could be counted on.

Sorry I guess I forgot about project 3: Wade Miller

when you come up with a idea for suitable replacement pitchers and finding a taker for Kerry Wood and his salary, give Hendry a call, ok?

When Hendry comes over and starts doing my job, then I'll do his.

We kill ourselves every game we take very few walks as a team and give them out like their candy.

This can't be said enough. The Cubs are currently last in the league in number of walks taken, while being near the top (currently 4th) in walks allowed by pitchers. Over the off-season you heard a lot about lack of fundamentals, team speed, lack of clutch hitting, etc. But ultimately, the problem with this franchise, carried over from last year, is that they simply refuse to recognize the value of a walk.

Thats because the very poor coaching staff has convinced them that they should hack away at everything.

Did anyone hear that joke about Santo killing himself? It went something like this:

Pat: Rusch is throwing in the low 90's

Santo: I can't find the gun here

Pat: Now, Ron, it's only a 2 run deficit and the season is young, you don't have to kill yourself yet

Santo: Ohhh, I'm not going to kill myself.

But times like these, I worry.

That was hilarious. What made it even better was the despondency in Ron's voice when he was asking about the "gun".

Why doenst Dusty just walk over the scoreboard and take the only Cubs run off the board. It would be easier than what he is doing with his lineup changes.

The level of whineage around here is reaching epidemic proportions.

Tends to happen in game threads - people get caught up in the moment of the game.

that "moment of the game" is called "Dusty Baker"

If I'm Dusty after this game I am going to go "medieval" on this team.

The profanities would be a flyin'

Walks kill.

from what I know of the game, Rusch walked Pujols in the first. not a bad idea. the second walk is bad, 2 outs, but I didn't see it. the third was a strikeout, not a walk. the fourth is tough to blame him. alot of guys would lose composure if a bad call continues the inning, then Pip gets a bloop hit, and Poo standing in the on deck.

haven't been able to watch since. don't know what happened with Williamson.
