I'm only doing this because we're friends. I believe he went 5 innings and K'd 8 minor leaguers.

For real, or just being sarcastic?

I know he was supposed to go 5. If it's for real, any word of pain afterword?

I believe this is true. I heard on The Score today that he went 5 innings in rookie ball and only gave up 1 hit.

The real problem is, it's just too darn nice down in Arizona. We need to "dirty up" the facilities down there a little bit.

Yes, that was sarcasm.

How far away is Prior? June 1st?

From what I read, and I can't remember where I read it, he's close to pitching to Rookie leaguers so he seems 2-3 weeks behind Woody.

Only info I could find but its old:

Apr 28 Carrie Muskat, of Cubs.MLB.com, reports Chicago Cubs P Mark Prior (shoulder) threw 40 pitches Wednesday, April 26, in a batting practice session and will hope to throw a three-inning, 60-pitch session in his next outing. No date for Prior's next session was announced.

RHP Mark Prior (shoulder discomfort) is set to face hitters for the second time this year on Thursday. He likely will throw 40 to 50 pitches in batting practice in Arizona. Prior could be ready for a rehab stint next week. The Cubs will likely send him there first to let him build up arm strength. He won't be back until May.

Just because I don't feel like starting a new thread. Anyone have any updates on Angel Pagan? When he went down he was supposed to be out 4-6 weeks correct?

It's been 2.5 weeks. Shouldn't we be hearing something about a rehab assignment? I think he would be a big boost to our OF, despite not addressing our biggest need which is power.

Get your tix to the Chiefs-Lugnuts game in Peoria!

The Cubs pitcher will throw for one of the organization's Minor League teams on Sunday, most likely at Class A Peoria, which will play host to Lansing.

cbssportsline.com:

OF Angel Pagan (hamstring, knee) went on the DL on April 16. He should be back in late May.

that's all I could find.

MLB has awarded Wood the simulated pitcher of the month award.

When asked about being awarded this honor Wood replyed with a simulated answer. All the while, Prior threw long-toss in the background, D Lee simulated hitting a clutch hit and Angel Pagan simulated stealing a base.

On the radio broadcast yesterday Pat and Ron said that hadn't heard a word about Prior. I wonder if he asked the Cubs not to report/leak any information?

Or maybe he's sleeping with the fishes.

So any confirmation on where he will be sent for sure?

Nothing official, but there's the most probability that he will be in Peoria.

Me sarcastic about Kerry Wood? Only the truth. I guess today they will see if he has any pain or discomfort. I hope he had a soft pillow last night. If he feels OK, then they will decide on his rehab starts. I looks like 2 starts in the minors and then up with the big club.

Little Davie Kaplan of WGN Radio played a cut last night about 'Kerry taking it easy for 10 days and then going to Peoria for rehab starts'. The trouble was it was from 1998. Even the Kapster admitted the Cubs will not bring him back for $13 million next year, no matter what his record. He said the only way to bring him back is to offer a low-ball, incentive-laden contract.

Every time we go thru the Kerry Wood Rehab Tour, the Chicago media goes nuts. They send reporters and cameras to the minor league stadium and have hourly updates of WGN and Comcast. The death of The Pope didn't get the same coverage. I suppose if he does well, a small flume of white smoke will come out of Hendry's office. Kappiesays Wood will win 16 games this year. I'll take that bet.

On a personal aside, I'll be flying up to Plymouth, MN. tomorrow. If I pick up the STAR TRIB and see a Wood story on the front page, I'll know you did it.

Ok...that's not true. I think I still get updates from CNN every 2 or 3 weeks confirming that "the Pope is still Dead."

This actually made me laugh.

I don't believe they'll bring him back for $13 million either. Nor do I think they should. They should give him an incentive laden contract that would allow him to earn $13 million if he posts 2003 like-numbers, only if he comes back, stays healthy, and pitches well (NOT based on wins).

I wouldn't bet that he'd win 16 games either, but not because of his stuff, but because this offense is so miserable, a cargo ship of Viagra couldn't help it get up.

If I worked for the Star Trib, Woody would be front and center.
