Not a good AB. Didn't even advance the runner.

Does advancing the runner really matter that much in that situation? Aside from a WP or an infield single(not very likely with Ramirez up), anything that scores Pierre from 3rd would score him from 2nd.

It matters. Sac flies are our friend.

Sac flies with 2 outs?

why is bynum batting 2nd? anyone? anyone?

this is the first lineup move this year I've really disagreed with.

I believe Dusty said that, with Barrett out, he wanted Walker's power in the 5th spot to backup Lee & Ramirez.

TOP OF THE FIRST INNING

Pierre lined a single to left field

Bynum flied out to left field

Pierre stole second base

Lee grounded out to short, 6-3, Pierre holding second

Ramirez singled to left field, Pierre scored

Walker homered to right center field, Ramirez scored

Murton grounded out to short, 6-3

3 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, 0 men left on base

              1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
CUBS 3 3 3 0
Pittsburgh . 0 0 0

Home runs: CUBS: Walker (1)

There was no opportunity for a sacfly there because there was already an out in the inning when DLee groundedout. However, I understand your general point.

So far it looks like he was right.

There was already one out.

Walker!

It's fundamental baseball. If you're going to make an out, improve the state of the game.

Moving Pierre to third does very little. As T_T said, he's most likely going to score from second on a basehit.

And Lee shouldn't be worried about hitting the ball to the right side. His job is to drive him in.
