could have a 4-1 record while scoring less runs than they've given up 39-42. BTW those 42 runs allowed are the most in the majors.

Yeah, unless their pitching begins shaping up they'll start to sink.

The Brewers though---that might be a different story.

We'll see when Milwaukee plays STL next week. They have beat up on the Pirates and D-Backs this week. Cincinnati got Pittsburgh also.

I do agree that the Brewers have a MUCH better chance to contend this year.

I think our thumping of them on opening day kinda makes that stat meaningless.

The Reds are perfectly capable of hanging around via smoke and mirrors for a couple months, anyway, lest we forget last year.

Didn't they get off to a good start LY? or was that 04?

I think it's been every year since 1991.

Seriously though, the Reds always get off to hot starts.

And then they realize they are the Reds and fade into fourth or fifth place.

I'm not convince about the Brewers. Yes, they are 5-0, but in every game they HAD to come back to win. Playing "cardiac kids" is not a good way to win. There are some intriguing talent on that team (*Turnbow, OMG, what a friggin' stud) but I do think Brewers ultimately will falter, and finish behind the Cardinals and the Astros, as those two teams will finish behind the Cubs.

Question: What WERE the Angels (or for that matter Philadelphia) thinking by letting Turnbow go?

They've had to come from behind against the likes of Pittsburgh & Arizona. These two are not really the cream of the NL crop. They go on a tough 9 game RT next week & will probably get a little bit of a wake-up call. STL,NYM,HOU

True. Sheets is still on the shelf though right? Fielder just had his first decent game---before that he was 0-fer. I think a case can be made there are more pitching pieces in place on the Brewers than the Reds, which is why I would buy them hanging around for longer than Cincy. Never know how it will actually shake out of course.

Didn't the Reds do this a few years ago (for a few months) before they collapsed?
