This is the first game in forever I can remember the Cubs actually winning a game like this. Let's go down the checklist:

1) Crappy starter handles the Cubs' offense? Check.

2) Umpire squeezing the Cubs' pitcher and giving plenty of calls to the Cardinals? Check.

3) Battle of the bullpens between the two teams? Check.

4) Division rival involved? Check.

5) Dusty makes a questionable move with his SP that resulted in runs? Check.

Wow. Awesome game.

Great series! :D

it'll be a little longer. they will have to spend at least two minutes embellishing how Pujols didn't go hitless for the series.

What a game. Props to the crowd tonight. Felt like a playoff game atmosphere from watching on tv.

and just like the playoffs on Fox, there's 2 announcers everybody is irritated of.

I enjoyed this game from beginning to end. I stand up and applaud Dusty today. The lead off guys (well, Walker anyway) got on base in front of the big bats. They didn't swing at bad pitches all night. They hustled (Cedeno double especially). Marshall looked good except for that one pitch to Rolen, but the umpire blew the strike before that pitch, which changes that plate appearance if Marshall doesn't fall behind.

The Barrett home run. WOW!

And against the division rivals, no less. Happy to see Jones finally break through. It is exciting to see the speed, but it's also awesome to not have to expect Lee or Ramirez to do all the power work.

Dusty actually has a bullpen he can wrok with.

I've never seen a bullpen wrok as well as this one. I think.

Dusty interview on comcast.

Really, all I see is AI talking about the whipping he put on the Bulls.

It wasn't terribly long. Was just saying how they played very good baseball all weekend, that Cedeno had a really good day, that Barrett has been the hero for a couple of days now, and how hopefully today will get Jones started.

The 1st game I've been able to watch or listen to all season. I thought Marshall did ok, it'll be interesting all season to watch how teams attack him early. I'd like to see him pitch backwards once thru the order and use his change more to RH'ers.

The Cubs didn't have a good approach against Ponson, despite Ponson's lack of velocity, they were trying to pull too much and rolling over everything, the success against Ponson (minus a couple LL hits by Cedeno) were to the opposite and CF.

I thought Dusty pulled Marshall too soon, especially bringing in Wuertz into a bases loaded situation, despite that I thought Wuertz pitched well against the heart of the order, including the FB to Pujols.

It's good to see Jones make solid contact and make pitchers throw him strikes and get extended.

Umps suck.

Joe Morgan sucks even worse than the umps.

But you know what?

I LOVE THE CUBS!
