My God, can we have a national game without a Bartman reference?

At least they tip-toed around. If it were Joe Buck, he'd be all over it.

I don't understand why they have to go there at all.

I was just going to say that. It's not a matter of if they are going to mention it, it's when they are going to mention it.

and how many times

How about tormenting the Cardinals fans by talking about their playoff losses? Wouldn't that be fair?

You'd also think they'd have shown replays of the Murton and Lee "outs"...

Well if you have watched enough baseball you understand that the manager can make whatever call he wants, the end result is not guaranteed.

Not a weak argument. It's just a given if you follow the game at all. I mean we all can micromanage to death every decision but all the manager can do is make his call & hope for the best. And even if he makes an intelligent decision, there is no guarantee his choice turns out.

So I guess if pointing out the obvious is weak then so be it.

1. I've probably watched just as much baseball as you, if not more.

2. The entire premise of damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't is that it's impossible to win. By definition of the game, it's entirely possible to win. The idea is to make educated moves so that over the long haul, the good decisions vastly outweight the bad ones. In 99% of cases, that's evident in the statistical record.

I'm sorry if you disagree. But if Dusty had left Marshall in and Marshall had gotten a DP, Dusty wasn't damned. You may be trying to make a different point, but you're using the wrong cliches if you are.

"Gosh Joe, remember when Oswalt shut the Cardinals down after the Lidge meltdown?"

"That sure was a swell game. I thought the Cardinals had that series locked up, but they blew it!"

Odds of you ever hearing that: 1000000000000000 : 1

Eyre hasn't pitched since Wednesday...I'd like to see him getting loose.

His arm is still probably pretty sore from that 37 pitch outing.

Ohman is warming up.

We need to get the tough bullpen arms up! Williams doesn't inspire confidence and we have an off day tomorrow.

And how sweet would it be to sweep the Cardinals. But I keep telling myself that we have already won the series. Not that I'm throwing in the towel, I'm just trying to put a positive spin on things. Plus Jacque is coming up next inning. He's on a hot streak now!!
