LOL. After 4 games, the question "How long will Dusty start Jones?" gets posed, yet people still like Corey and would rather he be in RF. Can someone please explain to me why Corey gets unlimited slack and Jones gets a week of games?

I don't think the people who posed the question are the same ones who give Corey "unlimited slack". Also, some of the reason that people would prefer Corey over Jones isn't over performance, it's about age and contract.

But at the same time Jacque has had a couple good seasons in the majors while Corey had half of a good season. I understand your point but at least Jacque has proven to be a decent player. He's 30, going on 31 while Corey is 26 so I see your point on that matter as well as Jones' 3 yr contract. Here's hoping Jones turns it around.

Corey had a good season in '04.

.266/.320./.452 with 168 strikeouts is a good season? That's a bit generous, don't you think?

He was very good the first half of 2003. I do remember a couple times in 2004 where he looked like he was putting it together, but it was always a fleeting moment and he returned to the same old Corey.

A .772 OPS is pretty decent for a CF. That's the other difference between the two. Patterson when he's done well has been serviceable to good for a CF. Jones is well below average for a corner OF.

Patterson also wasn't good for very long. He had half of a good year in 2003 and showed some flashes in 2004. Jones had two good years, as good as Pattersons half season, in 2002 and 2003.

Too soon to judge the guy. Besides he his one of my boys who played for the Fort Wayne Wizards. Yeah Latroy Hawkins played here too. But I've got nothing against Latroy I think he would have been fine if used as properly as a setup man rather than closing.

Just looked at his career numbers, meh. Nothing too thrilling there. Obviously his batting average has decline rapidly the past two seasons.

Oh, Matt Lawton is another ex-Wizard/Twin.

Back to the point, I like Murton and Pierre a lot. Not so hot on Jones but maybe this Pie kid will get a chance to play this season. That or Hendry deals for one at the deadline. Time will tell.

In the meantime, I don't expect much patience from the natives they get restless quickly now in Chicago.

Troll much? Who mentioned Patterson in this thread?

A. Patterson is not an option as he plays for Baltimore

B. I don't expect Jones to go 0 for 06.

C. He hits in the fith spot, Dusty cannot keep him there if he Ks on the same high frequencies as he has done so far.

D. I asked, how long? If he goes into Tuesday without a hit how much longer can Dusty stick with him.

1) Similar production.

2) Cheaper.

3) Under the Cubs' control for less than three years.

He'd still suck, but it'd be easier to stomach. I've explained myself every time I've made that statement. Care to include that the next time you say something like this?

266/320/452 with elite defense in CF is a good season.

If he could go with CPatt for as long as he did, expect Jones to be in RF for the duration of 06 regardless of what he does on the field.

Will Wuertz get into a game before Jockstrap gets a hit?

After his spring he is lucky to be on the team much less pitching in a resonably close game. The only game he could have been safe to come into was the opener.

When are we gonna learn not to make deals with the Twins????

Big Cub/Twins busts that come to mind:

Rick Aguilera

LaTroy Hawkins

and now.. Jones

So Johan Santana is not in the book? :x

Well, look how well Hawkins pitched for the Twins before he came to us....

I think it's pretty weak to be booing the guy already, and it's pretty short-sighted to call for his benching. Let's face it--he's not that great of a player, but he's better than he's shown (can't be worse), and people need to be slightly more patient. 4 games?

a day off sunday would be good, especially given his numbers against ponson.
