And apparently the ivy on the outside walls will take 3-5 years to fully grow.

Damn it, they almost went through this whole thing without doing anything I particularly disliked. It's going to suck looking at nothing on the walls for a while. :(

Ugh

The Cubs have installed new grass in the infield, and the dugouts are sponsored by a local furniture company. Painted on the dugout walls are the tops of wooden chairs to make it look as though some of the players are sitting in them. The company's slogan also is scrawled across the edge of the top of the dugout.

Tacky.

There hasn't been anything on those walls for the last 90 years.

I have my doubts about how well the ivy will do on the outside walls, anyway. People will pick off leaves/branches. There's apparently now a thin strip of mulch between the sidewalk and the outside walls for the ivy ... people invariably lean up against the wall while waiting in line, and that's likely to get trampled. With the bleach overhang, there's not likely to be much natural light getting there.

It's a nice thought, though. Maybe I'll be surprised. :)

Are you still going to be allowed to smoke against the back fence?

Hopefully not.

I thought there was a public smoking ban in effect now...no?

From the pictures from chicagotribune.com are the new bleachers the same color as the old ones? Form the pictures I have seen they stnad out like a sore thumg.

They will be painting the bleachers green after the weather turns warmer.

"It looks like a whole new ballpark to me," Cubs catcher Michael Barrett said.

Part of that is because of the new, still gray concrete base for the bleacher seats. When the weather warms up, the seating area will be treated with a coating and it will all be traditional Wrigley Field green.

Last night on Fox News, they also said the concrete would be painted a darker grey like the old bleacher sections.

Quick question from a guy that hasn't been to Wrigley since the strike.

Do they still sell Old Style? Do they even sell Budweiser?

Yes to both.
