Did some quick searching around looks like a minimum GPA in 12 core courses(I couldn't find what the GPA was) and a 17 on the ACT. For the ACT, you can take it as many times as you want and combine your scores from the 4 different subjects to reach the average of 17.(i.e. A 21 in Science on your 1st test + 16 on Reading on your 3rd + 15 on English on your 1st + 17 on Math on your 5th test = qualifying)

No one on the east coast takes the ACT. They take the SAT. Just saying.

Collins would be taking the ACT in all likelihood. I preferred the SAT as well as it was more an aptitude test than what you've learned as I'm an incredibly lazy student.

Yeah, Collins is taking the ACT. I though it was much easier, as 50% of your SAT score is math, and I'm not good at math.

Mizzou Hires Anderson... not a bad hire IMO.
Posted
I'm pumped. We are stepping in the right direction, we're gonna get some great recruits in the next few years, and hopefully we'll be back in the tournament in no time. Anderson is going to bring in some great, athletic kids, and we're going to be competitive again in no time.

Hopefully Anderson can succeed. There's a lot of morons at Tigerboard right now who are really upset. I personally like the hire, and am hopefully that by senior year Mizzou can maybe make the tournament.

Well, hopefully Alden is out. Mizzou really needs to get somebody in who bleeds black and gold.

A little penicillin would clear that up

UNC-Wilmington head coach Brad Brownell was in Muncie recently to interview for the Ball State coaching job. He's done a great job at UNCW, so this would also be a good hire.

No offense, but is that really a step up? The CAA seems about equal with the MAC.

JMO, but I'd say the MAC is an upgrade. I think it's consistently the deeper league, and they go in cycles on who has the better top teams. Specifically Wilmington v. Ball State I'm not as sure on though.

Conference RPIs dating back to '99 (kenpom.com)

MAC: 16, 10, 14, 11, 12, 15, 12, 11 AVG = 12.625

CAA: 10, 14, 13, 17, 11, 13, 16, 17 AVG = 13.875

Pretty small difference over the years he has listed, and the farthest away 2 years(least significant) really skew the data as the leagues are matched perfectly in RPI going back just 6 years.

By Team:

UNCW: 28, 105, 135, 51, 60, 89, 124, 189 AVG = 97.625

BSU: 254, 119, 146, 137, 78, 144, 44, 117 AVG = 129.875

I honestly don't know why so many (for the MAC) high-profile people are considering coming - we have the whole Indiana factor and such, and we went to the Sweet 16 sixteen years ago, but other than that not much success lately to speak of - used to be a MAC dynasty though and I suppose there's the "let's build it back up" mentality about it. I'd still like Tony Barbee, but since he's an assistant at Memphis, and BSU parades itself as an academic school now (top 5 in grad rates in the country in recent surveys) I don't think that will happen.

Well that moved quickly. WRTV channel 6 is reporting that Brad Brownell is expected to be introduced as the new coach at Ball State University later this week.

Good hire - it's clear that AD Tom Collins wanted to go with someone who had had success as a head coach already.

The bad news is that D'Andre Peyton, Chris Ames, Landon Adler and MAC Freshman of the Year Maurice Acker are all considering transferring. (Peyton and Acker were starters.) Having already lost the 2004 MAC Freshman of the Year in football when Adell Givens couldn't keep his grades up, I'm really sick of losing the few talented players that come through here.

Interestingly, I believe a few years ago a coach in another sport (it may have been track) made exactly the opposite move, going from Ball State to UNC-Wilmington.
