Wow, not a good sign for Williams. :(

Not a good sign for our offense either.

People have to stop trying to read the tea leaves via the first week of spring training games, or any spring training games for that matter. The results of these games aren't a sign for anything.

Why do we always struggle against Jennings?

I was thinking the same thing. No idea.

I was at the game right before Prior took the line drive. I actually left the game early, which is a rarity. the reasons were two, first, I got sunburned really bad sitting in the bleachers. second, first and second pitch swings after first and second pitch swings and ten pitch inning after ten pitch inning by the league leader in walks was driving me insane.

Does anyone know who the runs were scored off of? Were they all on Williams?

I'm pretty sure they were all scored off Williams.

I'm guessing not the the 2 in the 3rd inning.

EDIT: I guess I was wrong. :(

Jerome Williams so far this spring:

5 IP, 7 ER, 11 H, 12.60 ERA

Maybe Hill/Guzman have a chance to start the year in the rotation after all.....

They seem determined to send Guzman to AAA, I guess I can see why, but Id still rather see Guzman than Rusch or Williams.

ST games are useful for one thing - monitoring the competition for positions on the team. Williams likely has a spot on the team either way, but he is certainly competing for a SP spot. This very well could be a bad sign for Williams, even if today's game doesn't say much about the offense...

both have been better than williams or rusch, though obviously in limited action. i haven't been able to figure out dusty's formula as to who spring training counts for yet, however...

It's a good thing he isn't managing the Padres. Bobby Hill, Josh Barfield, and Bellhorn are battling for the 2nd base job...
