Per Will Caroll at BP (Subscription required):

Reliable sources--the same ones that tipped us early to Mark Prior's Achilles problem--now tell us that Prior is having shoulder problems. The Cubs deny this and point to Prior's work on the mound. Prior was doing towel drills on Saturday, but this is the same type of work he was doing last year when there was a problem.

I need more than Will Carroll to start worrying.

Didn't Will Carroll "break" the news that Pete Rose was going to be reinstated about a year ago?

Tried to tell you all that Marky Mark wouldn't have been able to hit an Emergency Room in SoCal without being noticed.

Did you listen? nnnnNNNNOOOOOOOoooooo. :P

Just kidding. I was only speculating. God it's rough being a fan of this team

Will Carroll says lots of things.

FWIW, Carroll was on WSCR where he was talking about his presence and comments at Wood's press conference the other day. Supposedly the illness and the shoulder are related.

Well, I hope this is just a silly rumor.

It's got to be loads of fun to be a baseball reporter when Spring Training comes around. All you have to do to create a stir is just say "Prior's arm is hurting" or "Woody's having some pain" and every Cub fan on the planet "Oh NO! Here we go again!"

No reporter who is actually in Mesa has written that.

Whew. Thanks, Mr. Miles.

I'm sorry, I'm not following. Do you mean Carroll is suggesting that the E.R. trip was for his shoulder?

It was weird. Carroll and B & B somehow implied that the illness that put Prior "behind" has created a situation where his shoulder is weaker than it should be.

It didn't make sense to me, either.

I hope that report/rumor is false. Please, God, have mercy. Just one season of healthiness.

You mean 2003? (For the most part)

Someone once pointed out that God must have been taking a nap that season until the LCS rolled around.

Or, perhaps, Satan.
