this is by far, the best news this offseason. Boras is the worst thing in baseball since the sox uniform consisted of shorts.

Yes, he keeps robbing from those poor owners. I am surprised the guy is not in prision for all the money he has swindled from those great men.

I don't see this as a stunningly spectacular event. If I were a player, I'd hire Boras in a heart-beat. Plus, Hendry and Boras work relatively well together so it's not a given that Z would have left when the time came.

Agreed. If there is ONE team Boras works relatively well with it is the Cubs, believe it or not. So my guess is...Zambrano wanting to stay in Chicago would not be an issue, and it now confirms he does in fact wants to stay, not because it is a "PR" statement, but because he actually likes the city and the organization. So the firing of Boras is not a stunning decision in regards to what the Cubs can or can't do with Z. As someone mention earlier, I believe the principle reason of the firing is that Z wants "long-term stability", and Boras wouldn't advice him on that, and he prefer Z to wait till his FA, which is still a few yrs away.

I bet the Cubs sign Z long-term before 2006 is out.

Note to Zambrano: Can you please give Mark Pawelek a call & advise him to do the same?

I think Mark's repped by Bizaro Boras, because he's already done something completly un-Boras repped player like (sign on draft day out of HS)

Not exactly. He did sign very quickly but he also got out of slot money (bonus was highest until the 12th pick).

I also thought this was great news initially. Then, the Cub -- pessimistic -- side of me wondered if, since Z really likes Chicago, he was canning Boras because Kenny Williams refuses to negotiate with the agent. Is Z just planning ahead? Naaaaaaaaaaaaaah. . . can't be. . .

I don't think anybody stopped to realize that he used mlbtraderumors.com as his source, and nobody else has heard anything on the radio about it.

that site can give you about as much insight into what is happening in the baseball world as I can give you about rocket science.

From The Real Bruuuuuuuce

Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano may have fired super-agent Scott Boras over the winter, but that didn’t stop Zambrano from trying to nearly double his salary this year.

I'm not sure what you're referring to here. Are you saying that this is all made up? I cited mlb... because it made mention of WMVP. Bruce Miles also had something to say about it...

Oh, WMVP is a radio station? all I saw was http://www.mlbtraderumors.com as your source, I've learned over the past month or so that that site makes most of its stories up. My bad.

The White Sox won't have the MONEY to land Zambrano when he possibly becomes a FA. Besides even if they did, I doubt Zambrano goes to the Sox, anyway.

Can't see Z ever going to the AL -- he loves to swing the bat too much. :D
