I have somewhat shifted my draft philosophy, ideally if Pope is there, he would look very good as the Bears starting WR. I'm not the biggest fan Randle-El and he'll likely be overpaid, but he's a good #2 WR on a team that needs one.

At this stage... If everything fell into place.

TE

OLB

DB

K

FB

OT

QB

Likely in that order.

Pope as a WR?

I agree about the CB being to expensive. I'm just sayin if he is cheap which he won't be, but its a dream. Id love Clements, but if hes being franchized that sucks. Pope and Randle El would be wonderful and I think that is very realistic. Hopefully theres some CB out there we could ad.

Woodson would be great in this cover 2. Plays physical and is a great tackler for a CB, two things this cover 2 likes. Can do the exact things Ronde Barber does in Tampa and is great in the CB blitz. Health is the only question and risk for him. If not to much $ he could be awesome. He's still only 29. Bring the Number 2 to chicago.

Vinaterri has made the greatest bad weather kicks ever. Id like to see him in chicago, especially since this team is going to play games close to the vest.

Calhoun ran a 4.6? He sure seems a lot faster on the field. Especially against Auburn in the Citrus Bowl.

KC Johnson thinks the Bears might be looking at D early in the draft. And I have to say I'd like to see that happen.

I don't think a TE in the first is going to make all that much of a difference for the 2006 season. If they go all the way, the defense is going to take them there. And as good as it was last year, the D had too many flaws to dominate. You can probably get a TE in the 2nd, as well as O line depth and KR/receiver help later in the draft. And if Little Vick is on the board late on the second day, I'd strongly consider drafting him, but only if they get good reports out of the combine and other meetings.

INDIANAPOLIS -- It's a good year for the Bears to have defensive backfield depth on their wish list.

A decent free-agent crop at cornerback and safety will open for business Friday, unless collective-bargaining agreement talks delay the start of the signing period.

And some mock drafts list as many as six defensive backs as first-round picks, more than any other position. That's why the Bears' brass will be watching closely on Tuesday, when the defensive backs who met the media on Sunday are paced through more workouts.

Texas' Michael Huff and Virginia Tech's Jimmy Williams are both projected to be gone by the time the Bears' No. 26 pick arrives. But if Ohio State's Ashton Youboty or Clemson's Tye Hill is still on the board, mock drafts that list the Bears using their first-round pick on a tight end could prove wrong.

Again, usually the case is wait on a TE, because it's not necessarily an impact position. But there are a few this year that are potential pro-bowlers at their positions. There will be TE's available in the 2nd or 3rd that are servicable, and should be decent, but guys like Marcedes Lewis can be great.

That being said, I really like those CBs. Either one would be a nice pickup, but I don't think there's much dropoff if any from those guys and a guy like Blackwell from BC who may be there at the end of Rd. 2.

I wouldn't complain about Youbouty/Tye Hill in the 1st.

Some of the combine data has been interesting. Chad Jackson must be shooting up the charts.

As a Wisconsin homer, I was pretty stunned that Calhoun ran so bad. He better bring in in the Wiscy Pro-Day or it's going to hurt him pretty bad.

Adam is to expensive for a kicker. Believe me I'd love to to see him in Chicago, but I'd rather spend money on other position then K.

I'd rather spend it elsewhere. But Gould was pretty crappy, and it doesn't look like they have many options. And if you are going to be a team that relies so heavily on defense, you need a guy who can give you a reliable 3 point try.

what about the kicker from memphis? i saw him at the skills competition and he's got a big leg and very accurate.

I don't see him going anywhere. I wouldn't pay big money for a kicker either. Vinateri is gonna cost big money. I'd rather spend it on someone who can score or prevent TDs.

Are you advocating spending big on John Shoop? He can prevent touchdowns with the best of them.

Good point. I think he and Gary Crowton would get huge dollars for their ability to prevent TDs.

Pope looks to be #2 but this puts me more firmly in Goony's camp. No one really separated themselves outside of Davis (who we have no chance of getting). The rest look bunched together. We can get a quality TE in the 2nd or 3rd. I think looking at BPA (with some restrictions) is a pretty good idea.
