So what do we have to look forward to now since we know the Cubs are gonna blow?

Find a hobby that doesn't involve sports... as for me, I get to look forward to the Flyers getting my hopes up and then inevitably crushing them.

Welcome to the long, cold, winter of Chicago sports......which will likely extend through the Summer :(

Cubs. Bears. Bulls. Mavericks. Mizzou.

All either suck or can't win the big one.

I need a hobby.

Good God. The Bears lost, its not like they got to shake everything up.

First i read 'the cover 2 has got to go'. Uh huh its totally sucked all year for the Bears. Its won 2 Super Bowls for 2 different teams. Yup blow it up. Mike Brown cant stay healthy enough or somthing like he should be playing so we need a new safety. Remember when he had the injury it was 'season ending'. Oh he also a pro bowler but we Bear fans are the only ones that realize he aint that good or shoulg be better. Anyway sorry for the rant.

Frickn Steve Smith was the difference in this game. Tillman and Thompson fell down on 'the' only Tds. They got a fair amount of yards but its not like they had long drives to score a TD. Frickn 2 plays. Steelers had longer more sustaible drives than the Panthers did today people. You dont lose a game because of field goals.

Rex started real slow but the dude is Qb. He's got great presence in the pocker and has mobility, well better than i thought. And he had some great hookups to Berrian. Berrian is better than i ever thought, he's not just fast, hes a good football player. Him Moose and Bradley are a good 3some.

Needs:

TE-Pope please.

CB (you just can have too many of these)

Posted
and both times the CB's fell down was due to contact with Smith. The first one looked like Smith just mowed him down, the other saw Thompson bump and fall.

Gotta hand it to Smith. He's just a great player. I understand we fell down on a couple plays, but people need to understand part of that is intimidation from Smith's speed and his ability to get up on a CB quick and explode right past.

Plus very little pressure on Delhomme. Their blocking scheme was on the money today.

Yeah i agree, but i wouldnt call it 'beating' or blowing by the cbs. If Smiths is as good as just barely touching those guys and beating them, then he truly is frickn unbelievable. If Tillman and Thompson are truly that bad it would have happened more this year. Ok it happend to Tillman against Roy Williams early in the year but thats it.

You keep the defense, depending on Azumah's injury, you decide to go after a 3rd CB.

Offensively, you get a 2nd WR thru FA or draft as well as TE. Personally, I'd rather see them add a TE thru draft.

They also need to add depth on the O-Line.

The Panthers spanked them, give them credit.

They can still run the Cover 2 and shade more towards Smith as well as Thompson on Smith, regardless if he is in slot or not.

Rivera and Turner had poor games.

The Panthers won fair and square. Actually, they dominated. Our defense was terrible. Why in the heck would they put Thompson(who only played once against the Vikings) one on on with Smith? Tillman looked bad and overall our entire defense pretty much did. Our defense did enough but when our defense couldn't stop anybody what do you expect? We need a TE and CB.

As many know, I'm a Packer fan, but you guys had a heck of a year and you should be proud.

Still waiting for you guys to fall back to 4-12 next year, though. ;)

Offensive Needs:

Pass Catching TE

Pass Cacthing FB

Possesion reciever.

Defensive Needs:

Nickel corner

LB depth

A new safety

I think the Bears need to completely start over at TE. Draft one early. Sign a FA. Draft one late. I don't think they need a possession WR. I really don't know what that means. I think Muhammad, Berrian, and Bradley are a very good start. I don't understand the love for Randle El. He's not better than the first 2 and I wouldn't want to play him over a healthy Bradley. And you still have Currie. I don't want to pay Twan for his punt returning abilities and being a #4 WR. Gage needs to go, though.

I agree with the defensive needs. Brown and McGowan are a good start at SS. Harris should be back at FS. It would be nice to get a veteran FA to start over Harris though.

I want a new SS.

You want to get rid of Mike Brown? Why? Replace with who?

Brown cannot stay on the field, even after taking 7 weeks off for what should have been a very meh injury. He's great when healthy, but in football (unlike baseball), every game means so much more, and you can't rely on a guy who just cannot complete a season (or a PLAYOFF game) in that kind of role. The SS in that defense is so important, and it has to be played by a regular, not a backup.

I'm not saying spend money on a SS. Draft a SS on day one, along with a TE and a O lineman.

I thought we were all set to play Ronny Cedeno at SS?

Morrisey:

Grossman played like Kyle Orton but with a better arm.

But at least Morrisey put the blame on the defense where it belonged, Downey inexplicably blames it on Rex!

But in the Bears' case, a great season is over because they still do not have the big-play performance at quarterback they so desperately need.

Come on! The Bears season is over because Steve Smith ripped up our D.

The facts of the game:

- Steve Smith is on another plateau of players. Even if those guys didn't fall down on those TDs, Smith already had them toasted. The man is the only legitimate weapon on the entire offensive side of the ball, and still no one can stop him. Truly unreal. 218 yards.

- Simple explanation for the delay of game nonsense: Shady officiating. On that 2nd to last Bears drive, some shady defensive holding and contact calls (the contact on Lucas was Moose-initiated) to keep the drive going. Almost seemed like the refs were trying to keep the small markets out. (I know it seems absurd, but look at the ridiculous call in the Pittsburgh game. ANY chance at all that wasn't a blatant attempt to keep the Colts going in the playoffs? And the CAR/DAL game seemed like another example.) To be frank, after Lucas picked it I was waiting for the refs to decide to throw the flag and bail the Bears out by calling the penalty.

- Jake Delhomme might be my favorite player in all sports. The guy's just a fan out there playing QB. He's got the intensity of Zambrano, and he steps it up when it matters. That's why he's 5-1 in the playoffs despite having played only one of those games at home. 318 yards? Wow.

- It's a credit to you guys that even as I was enjoying Carolina's play and the fact that they never trailed, I was scared the whole game. And I'll freely admit it. I was waiting for the Bears to make that big defensive play. (Some props to Urlacher for that inhuman interception.)

- For all the talk about the Bears D going in, I thought the Panthers D really stepped it up. Complete lockdown until they were up by 13, then loosened it up a little bit, but they always went right back into lockdown when it mattered. Kenny Lucas is one of the most underrated defensive players there is.

- John Fox. The man's a genius.

- Stick with Rex. The kid positively scared the crap out of me when he led the Bears right down the field for two TD's on two drives in a row. That's a good football player.

- Congratulations on a great season.

HERE WE COME, SEATTLE!

Agree. Agree. As much as I would just like to spend my time here mocking Bear fans - you guys had a great year and exceeded all expectations and while I am not an expert on your roster you would seem to have a pretty good group coming back and a decent coaching staff. Sometimes these things take time - do you know how many times the Packers got their a-- kicked by the Cowboys in the mid 90's before finally getting the monkey off their back?

Patience my friends!

A) easy to say when there's no way to know if you're right or not.

B) utter crap. they gave up a ton of points to a really bad offense. they were close to giving up the tying score to a really bad offense. their defense should be embarassed by the way they played in the second half

Except that there is. Smith already had a step or three on Thompson or whatever his name is when he fell down on the 2nd score, and against Tillman, he was already level with him after about four yards, and you can't tell me that Smith couldn't outrun Tillman from there.

given that smith never managed to outrun anyone who didn't fall over, I most certainly can say that

Sure Smith had them beat, many receivers beat their man by a step or two on deep routes. That still doesn't mean that he would've scored. The defender falling down on those two TD's took the throws from "pretty difficult" to "criminally easy" for Delhomme to make.
