Can anyone inform me about Cubs night home games? I'm curious to know how many we will have in 2006, and the yearly progression amount of night home games.

Also, are you for or against more night home games?

-I dont like waiting all day in the summer to watch baseball.

-Wrigley is meant to be played in the day. It just is. Thats probably why it was one of the last parks to get lights.

-More dangerous at night before, during, and especially after the game.

-Dark skinned players play better in the heat.

29 night games this coming season. it was supposed to be 30 but the Cubs gave one up in order to have the Buffett concerts last year.

Actually, Wrigley was slated to get lights in the early 40's, but gave it up so that the lighting factory could manufacture things for the war effort instead, IIRC.

Why they didn't get lights in, say, the 50's, I have no idea.

I love night games but I don't want them to increase. There's something special to me about a Wrigley night game and I don't want it to become the norm.

I believe 30 was the maximum number reached in the deal a couple of years ago, so until a new deal is reached, it'll stay at 30 starting in 2007.

There's nothing like watching a Cubs game on WGN on a lazy summer afternoon. Now only if WGN would show the number of games that they used to.

Roll - out - those

Lazy-hazy-crazy days of summer,

Those days of soda and pretzels and beer.

Roll - out - those

Lazy-hazy-crazy days of summer,

You'll wish that summer could always be here.

All day games please. With the MLB Extra Innings package in my office, games don't begin until 4pm most days, unless the Cubs have a day game.

Oh, and the WCIU games have got to go. Those don't telecast on MLB EI for some unknown reason.

I'd read sometime in the past that WCIU simply doesn't have the equipment needed for its telecasts to be picked up on satellite.

some people work during the day in the summer and can only watch night games.

im a big fan of day games in april, may, and september though.

^^ Tree you summed up my thoughts to a T.

Day games in April, May and September, night games mostly in June, July and August besides weekends.

I love the feel of a Wrigley night game. If fact, I used to be on the 81 day games bandwagon for awhile, but after seeing Wrigley night games, I realized that it is no less special to be at Wrigley at night then during the day.

However, the spring and fall are perfect for day games. It's cooler out, kids are in school and they are two seasons where people truely enjoy getting outside for the sake of going outside. I love the feeling in April when it first hits 60 degrees and all I want to do is play hooky from school/work and goto Wrigley Field. I wouldn't trade that feeling for the world.

In the summer, its brutally hot most of the time during the day, I'd rather goto the beach during the day (or work if you do that sort of thing ;)) and then hit up Wrigley when it cools off at night.

Just my opinion though...I guess it doesn't matter to me because I've already sworn that I wouldn't spend a dollar on the Cubs next year anyways.

The problem is that it's the exact opposite for money purposes. The weekday night games are in the spring and fall because otherwise they'd be value dates. The weekday day games are in the summer because they can still charge a lot for them since they're int he summer.

How much is that package? And do I have to buy the whole thing if I just want to see the Cub games?

This is what ticks me off. I have digital cable. I don't have FSN-Chicago, however. But my fiancee's family 30 miles to the south does have it, but none of them care about baseball.

Is that justice?

The EI package runs around $150. They let you spread it out over three months. Sometimes, they run an early bird special if you sign up in Februrary. And yes you have to buy the whole package. They don't break it down for different teams.

That being said, I love it. When I first signed up, I did so to get Cubs games, but I often find myself watching many of the other games as well.

And it's worth every penny. No baseball fan should be without it.

Satellite television is a wonderful thing.

it's especially great if you have a job during the day, and the team you normally follow plays its games while you're at work. then you can come and relax and have dinner and then at 9 flip on the baseball and just watch whatever game sounds interesting and then within a couple months you'll realize that you like that team that you watch at 9 more than that team you never manage to see at 1:20.

at least that was my experience.

First, I had EI last year and it was great, but I'm not sure the 2006 Cubs are worth the money this summer.

Second, as an "East Coaster", I prefer day games simply because Wrigley Night Games don't start until after 8pm here, meaning I'm up until 11 pm (with 2 young kids who wake up really early in the morning). West Coast night games I dont' even bother with.
