Carroll really cost his team with improper preparation for VY's rushing and offensive tendencies.

i'm sure it was mentioned earlier in the thread "don't want to go back 15 or so pages" but why in the heck did he call for a timeout on the 2 point conversion? He pretty much set himself up for Texas to win after that seeing they couldn't stop the clock at all on their final drive. Carroll definitely did not have his greatest game ever coaching.

I personally don't think he called it. I think a player called it. He looked pissed after it was called.

interesting. If thats true, I would not want to be that kid right now.

Alright, time for bed. Great thread guys! Let's hope the Bears can get it done in a few weeks.

Sad to think that football is ending soon. Guess we have Spring Training to look forward to.

Oh wait, it's the Cubs, never mind.

Young in the last drive:

Incomplete pass to the left

2 yard loss pass to the left

7 yard pass to the right (5 yard penalty)

9 yard pass to the middle

7 yard VY Run Right

16 yard pass to the right

Incomplete to the right

5 yard VY Run Right

Incomplete pass to the middle

9 yard VY Run Right TD.

Notice where the yards were gain, Pom Pon.

This is truly indicative of how the game was lost. Awful scheming with weak side blitzes

yeah i saw that too. Me and my buddies pretty much said the same thing about him. USC's offense did a great job against Texas' defense, but they did not lose the game. Vince Young stepped up and won it. Why couldn't Leinart just man up to Texas and say they played one hell of a ballgame?

Man, and I thought Leinart was a decent guy.

Although Young was being a jerk for saying whose the real Heisman. Bush is. He won it. Come back next year and win it.

If the Heisman voting ended tomorrow, I would bet that the race would be much closer than it was in December.

of course, heck, Young would probably win. But it isn't tomorrow.

I know, but honestly, I think Young is the better player than Bush is as of this point. Dude was personally responsible for 200 yards rushing with 3 TDs on the ground and 260+ yards passing with like 30 out of 40. A 75% completion percentage, aganist a solid USC defense at National Championship game. Not to mention that Texas was trailing at the point.

vince young just took back to what he said about the heisman, so i guess hes not a bad guy after all. Although I can't understand why he would come back for his senior year, especially with the style he plays. Getting injured would not be good.

It may be awful scheming with the blitzes, but you have to give credit for Young to see the blitzes coming, and the TX O-Line to pick it up, along with their WR's and TE adjusting to it.

He was great, Coach, no doubt about it. But by blitzing from the weakside, you are just playing into his strength.

Of course, but not all the blitzes were coming from the weakside. There were some that came pretty much everywhere.

Again, if a QB can complete 75% of his passes aganist a aggressive SC defense, that's just good enough.

Great game, great championship game. USC made mistakes, but so did Texas. I almost think Texas made more than USC in fumbles and special teams.

I really never have seen a player will his team to win more than Vince Young. I am definatly more worried about Young leaving now to the NFL than I was before.

Texas's 800th win results in a NC.

Time to change the banner.

The real question is......

could Texas have beaten all those historically great teams that USC "played" on sportscenter?

That was a fun game...made even more fun by the fact that Pete Carroll is a twit when it comes to coaching.

Vince Young definitely is looking like a Top 5 pick in the draft if he comes out, though. I'd absolutely hate to see the Packers draft him.

So would I. I want no part of Vince Young. Unless he learns how to throw. Because his throws in the pros will get picked or get his WR's killed.

Am I the only one not impressed with Vince Young as a passer? Ball doesn't look like it has a lot of zip on it at all. His receivers are getting hammered right as they catch it.

Quick quiz... which QB finished #2 in all of college football in QB rating, completed 64% of his passes for almost 2800 yards and a 9.7 yard per attempt average, with a 26-10 TD-INT ratio? Then went out and completed 75% of his passes for 268 yards in the biggest bowl game in recent memory? If you guessed Vince Young, you win. Say what you will about his mechanics, but it's hard to argue against that kind of success, and the fact that he has had some of his biggest games against highly ranked opponents. I wish I could bump the thread from earlier in the year in which I was supporting him for Heisman and defending his passing ability, but since I can't - nya nya I told y'all so.

I think I agree also - I have to say I was pondering that question for a good part of the game though.

So did anyone hear ESPN say Texas is #1 in the only poll that "really matters"? Were they reffering to the BCS? If so, that is very interesting, seeing as how ESPN has completely ignored the fact that the BCS is the only poll that matters, whenever they talked about a USC threepeat.

There's a lot of great QB's who put up great college numbers that suck in the pros. Most of them suffer because they don't have a great arm, a great release, or great decision making. I think in the NFL, all three of these will be exploited.

he may have success passing in college, but i cant see him having success in the nfl

1270- that is the number of registered users on a USC board right now.

And for some reason they are already talking about ND coming out there next year, and the rivalry between the two. They just lost the NC game, and every few posts mentions ND. I really don't get it.
