This doesn't make sense. The top two things I see are that the O's said they didn't want to trade Tejada within the division. And, the D-Rays would be getting an over-priced (especially by their standards) under-performing Matsui. That's something the D-Rays haven't been too keen on in the past.

The only team that really benefits from this trade is the Mets. Of course, considering the source of this rumor, that doesn't surprise me.

Someone should edit the title of this topic to "rumor".

The DRays and O's get hosed in that deal, big time. The rumored Cubs offer is twice as good.

Gotham Sports..

Nothing's close, but "these are the kind of deals that either fall apart immediately, or take until the spring to complete."

The O's do this why?

I'll take 'fall apart immediately' for 500

Wow how did I not see this thread when I posted mine..

Do you have kids? Last night I was looking for a summary of Levine's late-afternoon appearance on ESPN 1000, missed it, and then posted a frustrated request for it. In reality, I missed it b/c I was distratced by my toddler. It happens.

Darn kids!!! Glad I am not expecting my second!!! (due in late-May)

I am sorry, but that is the most loppsided trade idea this side of my PS2

The Mets would get Manny for:

Victor Diaz

Chris Benson

Aaron Heilman

Kaz Matsui

It is to laugh.

Baltimore Give up Tejada for:

Lugo

Benson

Diaz

Bannister

They are reluctant to trade him for Prior.

Tampa gives up Lugo and gets:

Heilman

Matsui

That is obscene, Matsui's contract that is.

Manny may end of a Met, but this deal aint gonna happen.

If Baltimore is even thinking about this deal, the Cubs have to be able to get Tejada for prospects. They can get players and prospects just as good as this deal, with a cheaper cost...and they don't have Tejada playing the same division.

Exactly. Somethings got to give. They are supposedly holding out for Z in our offer, but this deal is based on mostly prospects? hmm.

If this is true, then something smells. Somebody is/has been lying. No way they do this deal and not do the Prior deal. I'm starting to think Prior was never on the table. That, or this rumor is completely untrue.

Maybe they're just angry with us because of how the Sosa deal worked out for them. :)

Heh! What did the Cubs pay for Jerry Hairston last year? 17m?

Hairston only made 1.8 mil last year. We paid Fontenot 15.2 mil to play in Des Moines... http://forums.gigantour.com/images/smilies/eeka.gif
