I drive my dad's cars when he lets me. All Dodges (my grandfather worked at Chrysler for 35 years). They've given me very little trouble apart from the Dakota breaking down last Thanksgiving (to be fair, it had 207,000 miles on it).

My 1998 Ford Escort has been a dependable buddy for 5 years. My only complaint is that the front defrost thing works awfully, but the car guy said that's pretty standard in the Escort. And it's made in 1998 but it has no cruise control, wtf. Other than that, I've been pleased. I don't have any loyalty to any company or where the car is made, so my next car will be whatever strikes my fancy, domestic or foreign.

Honda all the way.

My first car was a '90 Honda CRX. Bought it used with 86,000 miles on it, drove it till it had well over 110,000, then sold it when a 2-seater was no longer advantageous (best mileage ever though, and you could park it anywhere on Chicago streets)

Then bought a used Chevy Cavalier that was the biggest nightmare of all time. I hated that car for the entire 18 months I owned it and I hope it's burning in hell right now.

Then bought a brand new 2003 Honda CRV and I love it. Gas mileage is pretty good for a small-sized SUV (around 22-23 mpg) and it's plenty big enough for the family of 4 plus groceries. Plus, Honda's have great resale value and the engines go forever.

The only American car(s) I would entertain ownership are: (in no particular order)

Corvette Z06

Dodge Viper SRT10

Ford GT

Other than that...I will take all my foreign vehicles and enjoy them for years to come!

Here's to not setting your sights too high.

With all due respect, they are reasonably priced and affordable.

Z06 - Mid 60's - good price for the power you get, will run with the Ferrari Enzo

Viper SRT10 - 2004's are around 58 - 62K

Ford GT - Mid 150's - Note: The only car to consume a full tank of gas in 15 minutes at wide open throttle.

I have driven all 3 and was amazed at all of them! They are amazing, even in comparison to Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo.

Yeah, those 150k cars are super affordable. I graduate from college soon, I'm expecting one for sure.

The majority of america couldnt afford the insurance on these 3 cars, I know that this is just another way of saying "look at how rich I am", but come on.

I stated facts regarding American cars I would be interested in. I did not give a run down of my assets or portfolio. Nothing more, nothing less...

My first two cars were made by GM, but I currently drive a Mazda Tribute. I like it because it is a smaller version of an SUV. It gives me the room I need and drives really well.

.

My friends and I have a name for those small SUVs. I won't say it on this board but it rhymes with "itch ruck"

I don't get it, they're certainly not anything like trucks...

atchback works

i have a isuzu rodeo(same as a honda passport) with 190K on it, this summer i drove it all over the country logging nearly 40K miles between may and october. the only work i had to do on it other than routine maintance was to replace the radiator. the $2K i paid for it 4 years ago was by far the best investment in a vehicle i ever made

Doesn't the car have to be able to go over 45 MPH to turn on the cruise?

I couldn't resist....I bought a Mercury Lynx the first year they came out and that car was not kind to my wallet.

My first car was a Geo Prizm. Laugh if you will but my wife's uncle is still driving it and its going on 225,000 miles.

Currently, my vehicles are a Pontiac Bonneyville and a Buick Terraza (it's a mini van).

What car do you drive. I wonder what J.R. will vote for?

This is a tough one, my Mazda 626 is a Japanese model that was made at the Ford Plant along side the ford Probe in the 90's but My dodge Ram was made in the United states or at least some of the parts.

Ya, but my truck can crush those cars in a head on, esp my 76 dodge, and i don't have to worry about washing it.

My first car owned, was an 86 CRX and would own it today, if I didn't move to AZ (it didn't have AC, a good thing to have in AZ)

Quality over loyalty ---> Foreign!

(I owned a brand new GM once, and it was an absolute nightmare. I'll take a 10 year-old Japanese car over American any day.)

There are Japanese and European nightmares sold every day; no company makes perfect cars. The quality surveys (reality) don't match your perception.

HA! From the guy who has never owned a Toyota or Honda.

Buy a new Camry or Civic, drive it for a decade and then get back to me.

I do respect your loyalty to the American worker.

I'm sure that Lynx of mine was destroyed in the junkyard 5 years after I bought it.

My current vehicles are a Ford 150 and a Mazda MPV. Love the Ford and I hate the Mazda with an utter passion.

I think the Prizm's had Toyota engines in them. I'm certainly not surprised it has 225k and is still running.

Yes they did.
