The posters at SoSh seem to think they're the front runners for Tejada.

What in the earth is SoSh?

Thanks. Could Boston put together a package better than the Cubs and would the O's want to trade within their division?

They include Manny and cash & that's tough to beat. Intradivision trades before the season are always more difficult to make if there are more than one potential suitor.

I still fail to see why Manny would approve a trade to a perennial loser like Baltimore.

I just don't see how getting Manny would make Baltimore better or let me reword that ....competitive in the AL East. I just think it would be a waste of resources for the O's to go in that direction.

Exactly. I don't see Manny waiving his NTC to go to Baltimore. And I also don't think Manny would all of the sudden make Baltimore a better team. They need a whole bunch to be competitive in the AL East. They're better off preparing for 2007 and beyond instead of putting everything into 2006.

i still think Manny to the Mets will end up going through so he can go play with former teamate Pedro Martinez. And the above statements about his NTC reign true as well.

Assuming Mora could move to SS. Would you trade Aram for Miggy? Aram is cheaper and younger however he can't seem to stay healthy. You could move RC over to 2nd then sign Nomar for 3rd.

We can't sign Nomar until May 1st. He'll have a job by then, so that is no longer an option. Had it been one, I would have to really think about that deal.

I don't think I trade Aramis for Miggy. Ramirez is younger and provides more offensive punch than Tejada does. There also aren't any thirdbasemen available that equal things out.

Now if a package were created that included Ramirez for Miggy with other players involved, I might have to look at the deal to reconsider, but Ramirez for Tejada as one for one, I'd pass.

Reading all of these discussions, I can't help but think of the nickname Billy Beane had for Tejada that was quoted in Moneyball.

And that was?

Or is it unprintable here?

I posted in a separate thread when i first joined this site that I would have been willing to trade Aram for Manny straight up if the Red Sox were willing to pay 7 mil a year of Manny's deal. Then I would have signed Nomar to play third. Everyone blasted me on this site, saying I was an idiot for even mentioning it. I just don't see how Tejada and Mora would be any better than Nomar and Manny. So the only way I would trade for Tejada is if we trade prospects. You can't forget Mora is 33 years old and his numbers already began to slide last year.

Wouldn't this lineup have looked great. Pierre, Walker, Lee, Ramirez, Nomar, Barrett, Murton, Cedeno?

What they think they are the front-runners for Tejada? Yeah, there right...they are the "Front-runners" at watching Tejada go to the Cubs or Angels.

Sure it they are prepare to offer any and or all of the following:

Abe Alvarez/Manny Delcarmen/Jonathan Papelbon/Andy Marte, with Marte being the "centerpiece." Boston isn't going to land Tejada, I think anybody with a brain knows that Baltimore ain't trading him to Boston. Perferably, they want him out of the AL, but they still will take the best offer, AL or NL. (Hopefully the Cubs offer, entices them)

So Nomar's playing the OF? I don't like that, at all. His throws to home would end up at third base.

In any case, that is a good lineup.

What's the Angels' payroll situation like? I think the thing that helps the Cubs the most in this situation is that we could actually fairly easily take on his entire contract, if need be. If not for that, we wouldn't stand a chance - the Angels could so far outbid us it'd be impossible to stay in the race.

EDIT: Sorry if this has been discussed before. I'm just really not in the mood to read a bazillion pages in several different threads all on one player.

Ha ha. The word "bazillion" reminds me of a joke:

DISCLAIMER: This is not meant to be a political statement of any kind. It's just a joke.

So George Bush's administration is having a meeting. At the end of Rumsfeld's debriefing, he concludes, "...and 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed in guerrilla action yesterday.

George Bush exclaims "NO! That's terrible! What should we do?"

Rumsfeld and the others, stunned by Bush's open display of emotion in response to the news, simply wait for an explanation.

Bush, after calming himself down a bit, says, "Wait...how many is a brazillion?"

I think the idea that the O's won't trade Tejada within the division is overblown. what would that mean, that they finish 33 games out of first instead of 28? big deal.

while Manny for Miggy has been nixed, I don't think the idea of Miggy to the RedSox has lost all its legs. I wouldn't be surprised to see something like the following:

Angels get Manny and a few million

RedSox get Tejada and an Angels prosect (or maybe no money to the Angels and take on Garret Anderson)

O's get one player/prospect from RedSox and 2-3 players/prospects from Anaheim

it seems to please everyone. Angels get the extra stick and keep the defense at short, and a little salary relief. RedSox get their shortstop, get rid of their headache and a prospect back or left field fill back. O's get rid of their headache and restock, with better prospects than the Cubs could muster I might add.

I am hoping this is another occassion where circumstances beyond Hendry's control force him to make the right decision when he was doing everything he can to make the wrong decision. just keep Walker, get Bradley for right with spare part pitching, and keep the bargaining chips and salary room for later on in the year to cover injuries/bad performance/Milton meltdown.

It appears that Manny would be happy to go to Baltimore according to the Washington Post:

"If the Orioles decide to trade Tejada there certainly would be much interest, particularly from the Boston Red Sox, who seem eager to acquire the shortstop. A large obstacle to a trade with the Red Sox was removed on yesterday when a source close to outfielder Manny Ramirez said he would "absolutely" accept a trade to Baltimore."
