This is a quote from the Mabry signing article from Cubs.com:

"We've got four new guys we're thrilled to have," Hendry said of Mabry, Pierre, Howry and Scott Eyre. "I'm not in a hurry -- 'Oh, I have to get another outfielder before I leave here or it hasn't been a great trip.'

well see, I came up with a winner of a trade.

Cubs get: Abreu

Phillies get: Danks, Williams, Hill

Rangers get: Padilla, Walker

Wouldn't the Rangers have to unload Soriano first?

I'd do that deal last week BTW.

Soriano was traded to the Nats -- there's a thread on it.

Am I out of line to think let's just get Bradley in right and keep Walker at 2nd and go to spring training and see what happens?

No, in fact, that's exactly what I want to see happen.

i would be fine with that.

getting abreu instead of bradley would be fine, too.

I'd be happy with that. I think Bradley in the middle of the lineup adds the power we'd need and Walker is a great option at 2nd. I'd be happy to let Cedeno and Murton get a lot of playing time and see what happens.

I wouldn't mind another pitcher, but could live with seeing Williams as #5.

I wouldn't be completely satisfied with that, but I could maybe live with it I guess. Probably leaves you a good chunk of change to get another SP or upgrade mid-season. The down side; it's a risky lineup. One that a team spending $100 million shouldn't have to take. If Bradley flips out and/or Murton tanks (both are very possible), you are in trouble.

Pierre

Walker

Lee

Ramirez

Bradley

Murton

Barrett

Cedeno/Neifi

If the Cubs go that route, they sure as hell better upgrade in the 4th OF department.

We've got the cash and the prospects to get this done - we need more of an impact and less of a risk in RF AND we should snag a good SP as well. The less risks this team takes, the better. Starting Williams all season is a risk, imo. Wood is already going to miss the first few games, which leaves us with an opening day rotation of Prior, Z, Maddux, Williams and Rusch - that isnt good enough to get the job done, we need a DOMINANT pitching staff for this team to win. I want to see another quality pitcher in that rotation eating up innings. In regards to the RF bat, we need someone with some power and high obp - should've snagged Giles when we had the chance.
