Why don't we get 1 OF before we get 2 OFs and start talking about a platoon. Also, anyone who doesn't think Bradley and/or Floyd are questionable hasn't been paying attention. I think Floyd is the best option, but he has had a career full of injuries and Bradley is liable to go off the deep end any minute. I still don't understand why some of you still want to replace or platoon Murton. He has earned the starting job until he proves he doesn't belong there.

I think Murton earned a shot also. But, Michael Restovich appeared to earn a shot in the majors, yet he didn't. He can't stick on a team now to save his life. Once teams get a good scouting history on Murton, will he still be a .300/.350 hitter, or will he drop down to a .250/.325 guy? We just don't know.

With an outfield of Floyd, Pierre and Bradley with Murton getting at bats against lefty pitchers, we have depth. Floyd and Bradley are better options to me than Murton. Floyd has just one year left on his contract. If Murton tears it up again this year, you can consider giving him an everyday job. With Floyd and Bradley's injury history, Murton should get a ton of at bats to prove his worth.

If Murton is one of the 3 opening day starters with Mabry as the 4th outfielder, then Cedeno won't play. Fact of life with Dusty Baker as manager. I'd rather give Cedeno the everyday job on opening day if we have enough depth in the outfield that Murton is #4 on the depth chart.

With Murton in left and Neifi/Cedeno at SS, I agree with another poster that you need an Abreu/Manny type in RF if they go this route.

I believe someone posted an article with quotes from Von Joshua right around the time Murton was called up last season, and I wish they would post it again if they still have a link.

From the way he speaks of Murton's work ethic and desire to constantly improve, I do not consider him to be someone we need to worry too much about. I expect him to put up numbers very similar to what he had last year on a consistent basis for several years.

is this the same kind of rumor that said cabrera and willis were available?

I don't think Dunn is going anywhere much faster than Cabrera. I would buy that Kearns could be dealt. They want Pena in the line-up and Griffey is not very tradable (aging, injuries, huge contract).

After reading the Sun Times article, I'm really surprised that Ibanez isn't available. I'd have guessed Seattle would at least listen to offers for him.

floyd isn't available either. mench is too expensive.

Read today on SI.com's Truth and Rumors that the Rangers want a No. 2 starter for Mench, and that Floyd is not available.

Good luck with that No. 2 starter, Texas, and enjoy having 17 OFs on your team.
