For those that just can not let it rest.

IF the Cubs win each series Cubs would see 0.500 Sept 9 th.

This would include a split with the Cards in a 4 game series.

Question is will Dusty still be around? I betting no.

Chris Spiers, Von Joshuea, Kelly, Piniella, Whomever.

The one game I saw over the weekend was the Cubs, Sox final game. I watched the Cubs HIT. I wondered if this was suppose to be the team we should have been seeing all year. The pitching still wasn't sharpe though.

I want whatever Scott is smoking. This team will lose 100 games, and might break the team record for most losses....we only need 52 more to do that. Give it up man, give it up!

A wager on that? A ballcap of the winner's choice?

Typical responses. I'm just stating that by September 9th the Cubs could see 0.500 if they win each series.

Will they? Probably not.

I like my team to win and I'll cheer them on to win everytime.

I believe the worst is over.

What could possibly convince you of that?

Even with the "improved" offense, they're still 2-8 in the last 10 games with Lee back. These guys stink in any form until serious changes are made.

I at least thought we'd have to win another game before we saw another one of these threads...

And wasn't it supposed to be .500 by August 2nd? Why is the deadline now pushed back a month.

I figure the next time we'll see .500 will be April 5, 2007.

I'd lean towards 100 losses if the other choice is .500.

The trade deadline is July 31st. Some good players on this team could be gone by that time, which only further weakens any chance of a .500 season.

If anyone came calling on Maddux, Jones, Williamson, Walker, Perez, Rusch, Eyre, Dempster, Howry, Pierre, Murton, Bynum, Pagan, Mabry, etc...

Actually, it would probably be easier to say anyone not named Lee, Aramis and Barrett.....

I'm all ears.

You forgot Zambrano. If he's not the definition of "untradeable," I don't know what is.

Oops. You are correct.

If the Cubs win every game after the All-star break, we could be .500 by mid August.

And back in the wildcard hunt! [/ridiculousness]

Dusty and the coaching staff too.

Why is it that teams that fire sale or fire the manager get a boost and win some games?

So wouldn't it be grand to see Dusty get walked and have the new manager take the Cubs back to a respectable place like 0.500?

I wanna see some good baseball from my team not what I have been seeing.

Septmeber 9th. Not much time after that for the Cubs.

I hope the starters get some quality going. They have the bats back.

You don't think they'll lose 100 games? they only have 48 to go...

Please don't say they will finish at .500, man...there's no way.

No I don't. Care to put your money where your mouth is?

The reason you won't see it happen is because a team in turmoil isn't going to turn into a powerhouse team because a new manager is at the helm. While anyone taking over was an improvement over Baylor, the team didn't really play any better under Kimm.

An interim is most likely the replacement if Baker is turned loose. As much as I want Baker gone, what happens if 3/4 of the players absolutely love Baker and will be very upset at his removal? Do you think they'll play harder for an interim manager?

What will need to happen is the interim will need to come in there and find a way to light a fire under these guys butts, and it's likely the players won't take too kindly to some new guy (possibly a temporary guy as well) telling them they aren't trying hard enough. Meanwhile, while this is happening, Hendry will be working the phones attempting to trade some of these players to improve his position for 2007. Trading players is a sign of giving up. It's hard to motivate players to play their best when the team has basically thrown in the towel.

I don't wish to spoil your optimism. Keep on keepin' on. But, your expectations seem a little high, IMO.

At this point we are trending at a 58-104 year..I'm hoping for 52 wins which would be a cub franchise low as far as I can find.

I'd say that Neifi is the definition of untradable.

We have very different definitions.
