  1. What a strange game that first one was. Very boring for the first three quarters. Then Washington scores twice to take the lead in the first five minutes of the 4th quarter. I flip over to the debate for like 10 minutes, flip it back and Seattle had scored 15 points.
  2. Link I don't know much about either of these guys, but it looks like another good move by Hendry on the surface.
  3. He spent a fair amount of time at the top of the order when Soriano was out so I don't buy your argument about hitting in front of Lee as the main cause. And his .266 BA tells the rest of the story. More than half of his at bats came hitting 2nd. About 80% of his at bats came hitting 1st or 2nd. He doesn't strike out that much, and if he's the terrible hitter that most people on here think he is, doesn't it make sense that pitchers would throw him pitches that he'll hit on the ground? I'm not saying anything about Theriot's baseball ability, other than commenting on his eye at the plate. I've watched enough games (and I'm sure you have too) to know that Theriot doesn't swing at crap. As such, the fact that his P/PA is so bad probably has something to do with the fact that he's seeing a lot of strikes. I really don't like looking at P/PA anyways. To use a very simplistic example, a player who looks at three fastballs down the middle every time he steps into the box will be said to "have a better eye" than someone who swings at the first pitch and hits a double every time up there if you only look at his P/PA. This is an area where I think scouting/watching the game/whatever you want to call it easily trumps looking at statistics.
  4. Yes, the guy who took fewer pitches than anyone else on the team has a "good eye at the plate." Theriot does have a good eye. The fact that his P/PA is last on the team is misleading. Most of his at bats came as the 2 hitter in the lineup. Batting in front of Lee, he naturally got a lot of good pitches to hit. Pitchers weren't going to throw him junk out of the zone (because they knew he had a good eye, and wouldn't swing at it) and walk him in front of Lee. They knew that he was a contact hitter that hits the ball on the ground a lot, so they threw him pitches to hit. You can fault Theriot for several things, but having a good eye is not one of them. All you have to do is watch a few games and you'll see that he knows the strike zone very well. Just looking at his P/PA and concluding that he doesn't have a good eye is simply wrong and a great example of how stats don't tell you everything.
  5. Fox has been awful with their bowl game coverage.
  6. I got Washington, Pittsburgh, New York, and Whale's Vagina
  7. Speaking of that... http://www.kansascity.com/sports/columnists/jeffrey_flanagan/story/426727.html
  8. Why would you root against your teams conference doing well in bowl games? because i hate michigan and ohio state. i'm a penn state fan, not a big ten fan. i won't cheer for ohio state ever (except the year they played Miami for the NC) but I definitely cheered for Michigan against Meph....er.....Florida i will never, ever root for michigan or ohio state, unless them winning would significantly benefit penn state. Yeah, I can't imagine any situation where I would root for kansas.
  9. Who was that guy 2-3 offseasons ago that was posting literally every single move announced on Rotoworld? Wasn't it an Astros fan? Whatever happened to that guy? (No offense PriorPower, this just reminded me of it)
  10. As a kid just getting started on baseball, I loved watching Shawon play and I loved the way he played the game. But he's nowhere near being a HOF-er.
  11. i know you can say this about a lot of games, but there were a few plays up to this point that went usc's way that were extremely lucky and would have changed the complexion of the game. Yeah, probably would have made it 49 - 23. Didn't MU barely squeeze by Illinois earlier this year? In a game where our starting quarterback played two series before he got hurt? Yeah you guys would have killed USC. Beat OU just once this year and you would have been playing for the title. Barely squeezed by? We were up 24 points late in the the 3rd quarter. The Illini made it close because at that point the Tigers stopped focusing on scoring and started running the clock out. And your backup QB played much better than Juice did before he got hurt in the 2nd quarter, so that excuse doesn't hold any water.
  12. Losses don't matter.
  13. What an amazing performance by Tony Temple today. Hopefully the NCAA will do the right thing and give him one more year of eligibility.
  14. Very dominant performance by MU in the first half. Tony Temple with 159 yards in the first half. Darren who?
  15. F the Patriots.
  16. Probably not. But he also wouldn't if he were changing the song on his Ipod, or grabbing something out of his glove box, or checking out the girl in the car next to him, etc, etc. Everyone does something that distracts them from the road every single time they drive somewhere. Not everyone is a loser that gets drunk and kills someone though. you're a loser if you're talking on your cell phone and you hit someone and kill them, though. You are? I don't agree with that at all. I also find it ridiculous that you're trying to downplay what Leyritz did. The dope got drunk, got behind the wheel, and killed someone.
  17. Wait, you can play some Xbox games on Xbox 360? I had no idea. Does that include GTA San Andreas? I suppose I could just stick it in and see what happens (that's what she said), but I don't want to mess anything up.

  19. On the edit signatures page? I don't see that option anywhere. Edit: I apparently did something right, cause it's gone now. Nevermind!
  20. I'm trying to remove the quote in my signature, but when I click submit, I get a "Your message contains too few characters." message. I don't want my message to contain any characters. What's the deal?
  21. Looking at Erstad's career numbers, you almost have to assume that he was juicing during the 2000 season.
  22. Does anyone really care about this move?
  23. How big of a contract does he think he's going to get after pitching (at most) 2-3 months? He's still going to be a huge risk, regardless of what he does in '08.
  24. Put me in the pro-Taguchi camp. He'd make a solid addition to the bench.
