  1. Possibly. I also find it a bit amusing that people keep referring to them as "the insiders."
  2. Not sure if this has been discussed, but I was curious about the park that Fuku called home in Japan? Was it hitter or pitcher friendly? What would it compare to in MLB? Anyone have any idea?
  3. Wait, Sammy was on roids because there's no way he could find the time to workout during the season? Now I've heard it all.
  4. Exactly...Look at Kerry Wood..Loyal, Dedicated guy...Mark Prior...Bottle and bib.. Yeah, heaven forbid a guy doesn't have loyalty for as team that fanned rumors of his "wussiness" which ended up delaying a surgery he needed for two years. The guy wants more money..for doing what?...Kerry Wood needed the surgery and time too..Came back like a man and said "I love this team and I owe them something" and took way less money..If Prior wants to sabotage the team,The big market team that drafted him, paid his dollars and has been loyal to him, through thick and thin, and then called himself " just an "employee" ..He can take freakin hike..Bottom line, he has hard personal feelings towards the Cubs and does not want to be here..Not anyone in the Cubs orginizations fault. You do realize Kerry Wood took the best contract offered to him this offseason? Neither of them owed the Cubs a thing. And I don't see how Prior wants to sabotage the team. No he didn't. Kerry had two year deals on the table from other clubs. He showed loyalty to the organization that paid him to do nothing. Prior on the other hand, didn't. Which is fine, not everyone is as great a person as Wood and wants to be a Cub. If Prior doesn't want to be here, screw him.
  5. Remember that? The guy obviously has a piss poor attitude. After what the Cubs have done for him, if he wasn't willing to do the Cubs a favor by giving them the 2nd year, then screw him. I know it's sad to see him go, it's sad in a way for me too. But at the same time, we're talking about the 2008 season and a guy who hasn't been decent since 2005 and who hasn't even pitched since 2006. Maybe he'll come back and be great, but that's incredibly unlikely. It's pretty foolish to waste three million on a guy and HOPE that you get half of a season of decent starts out of him before he bolts for free agency. The Cubs are obviously sick and tired of waiting on Prior to come around. Can't say I blame them. i'm sorry, what have the cubs done for him exactly? seems to me he's done more for them (ie win them the division in 2003 at a bargain price). Paid him millions of dollars to do absolutely nothing for the team over the last couple years? After collecting millions for doing nothing, if he's not willing to give the Cubs another year of control (that they lost by paying him to sit on his ass last year), then I'm fine with letting him walk. He obviously doesn't want to be here, let some other team pay him to rehab and HOPE that he somehow can still be effective.

  7. I pretty much agree with every word of this. It's hard to see him go, but who knows if he'll ever pitch again, let alone pitch effectively.
  8. Hendry said he tried to gauge interest at the winter meetings in a Prior trade and there was none. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that he didn't say that.
  9. Well this is going to suck if he's officially done as a Cub. But as I've said before, if Prior wasn't willing to agree to a second year then I completely understand Hendry's reasoning. Can't say I'm happy about it, but I also can't blame him.
  10. So Fuk's arm... I know it's good, but are we talking Ichiro good or Sammy in his prime good?
  11. Nice! 4 @ 50 is an outstanding deal for the Cubs, too. Woohoo!
  12. Your guess is as good as mine. If the Cubs land Fukudome, I think they will be more willing to trade Pie especially if Colvin is progressing. Hendry keeps saying Pie is untouchable, but I got to believe if Hendry becomes desperate for Brian Roberts, he'll put Pie in that deal. With Pie, Theriot and the pitcher's spot, the lineup has 3 automatic outs (save for Z). Theriot is now an "automatic out?" He's pretty close to it. And his walk rate will probably drop next season considering how abysmal his P/PA was last year. Or his P/PA will improve next year, making his walk rate increase.
  13. Watch, he's going to stay in Japan after months of Cubs fans hoping to see him in Chicago.
  14. Fortunately, I have Marques Colston on my fantasy team. Unfortunately, my opponent who I led by one point coming into tonight's game, has Drew Brees.
  15. This is annoying the piss out of me. Just make a freaking decision. The constant updates on when he's going to be updating people again are ridiculous at this point.
  16. didn't know you were such an expert talent evaluator when it comes to Conference USA quarterbacks. vance nicholson, jack of all trades. Well, I just think it's quite pathetic that you'd rather your team lose than have a chance to win it all. Of course, I guess that happens when your team has never won anything. If your team was eliminated, wouldn't you want your team to suck more to get a better draft pick? That's not what he said. He said he'd rather his team get a good draft pick than lose in the Super Bowl. Even if my team lost, I'd rather see my team in the Super Bowl each and every year. there was no way the eagles had a talented enough team to make the super bowl ahead of the cowboys or packers this year. that's why i started rooting for the eagles to tank about 6 weeks ago. I can understand wanting them to lose when they're officially eliminated from the playoffs, but I'll never understand why a "fan" would root against his team before that point. Unlike baseball, all it takes is one win to advance to the next round. Anything can happen.
  17. Wow, 21-0 in the first quarter. This Sunday nighter looks to be a bore.
  18. I was talking about in terms of football. I'm not some dork that's going to have an argument about which is the better academic institution. My degree from Mizzou landed me a pretty great job, that's all I'm concerned with. But the Mizzou football team is better than the U of I football team.
  19. No need to put a space in between the last word and the question mark either.
  20. The University of Missouri is better than the University of Illinois. MU is better than U of I. Both are correct statements.
  21. Floridas recievers laugh in the face of Meyer as they are transferring to the U of I as well. Oh god. What? I think you are getting a little nit picky. Heaven forbid I ever use the word "the" before saying U of I, considering it sounds stupid without the word "the", but whatever. And with that I will post this. Mizzou commit London Davis TE from Cahokia Il, has backed out of his commitment, to come join THE Zooker. Good, you guys can have all the East St. Louis recruits you want. I prefer Mizzou to have as few gangbangers as possible.
  22. Dude, you started rooting for Florida because they're good, not because you have any connections whatsoever to the school. You have absolutely ZERO room to talk trash. Have you ever even been to the state of Florida?
  23. Out of those five, the Tori Hunter deal is probably the worst.
