  1. Dusty talking about OBP again.
  2. Alright, so we've got one vote for "not decent" and one vote for "perfectly fine."
  3. I wouldn't say that. Midway (the airport) isn't near as bad as it used to be, but I wouldn't exactly call the area "decent." I'd probably say that you'd have an easier time getting to Wrigleyville from the O'Hare area than Midway, too. Cool, thanks. I definitely don't want to stay in some ghettotastic area. I was looking at that area cause flight costs appear to be a little cheaper. Good info to know though, thanks!
  4. A couple on topic questions as I'm looking at options for my trips to Chicago this year... 1. Is Midway in a decent area? Whether I fly into O'Hare of Midway, I'd like to stay somewhere near the airport. 2. If so, can anyone recommend a couple good hotels nearby that 1) have easy access to the El and 2) aren't too crazy expensive? Thanks!
  5. There's a Days Inn less than a mile from Wrigley that I've stayed in a couple times. The rooms are small, but unless you're going to Chicago to spend a lot of time in a hotel room, it shouldn't matter. I think I paid $120 or so a night last year.
  6. I was wondering the same thing. But the best available right now are 60 dollar seats in the 300 level far down the first base line... too risky for me.
  7. Anyone buying Brewers tickets when they go on sale this morning?
  8. Just throwing this out there... I'd be willing to trade my 2 tickets to the Cubs-Sox Sunday game for Cubs-Cards tickets. If anyone's interested, let me know and we'll see if we can work something out.
  9. if you're only buying 1 ticket. Sometimes it's fun to bum around the ballpark solo for a day. I buy for a group though, I'm finding the Brewers are even tougher now than the Cubs because their system is worse (at least, it was last year). if i lived in the area it'd be a different story...i'd bum around wrigley by my lonesome all of the time...going to chicago is basically a vacation for me, so when i go the g/f and others want to go with. the only game i really wanted was aug. 2nd, my bday....i got in fairly quickly and it seemed the best i could do was behind a pole, then it booted me and i never got back in until all that was left were upper deck outfield seats...i want to be a little closer to the action. A game against the Pirates was tough to get tickets for? That's surprising.
  10. I was hoping to nab some Sox bleacher seats to fund my baseball trips like the past two years, but wasn't able to. Still came away pretty happy. I got... Section 22, Row 4 -- 4/17 against the Reds Section 403 -- 6/22 against the Sox, that will be sold Bleachers for 7/13 (my bday) against the Giants Bleachers for the final home game against the Cards Hopefully I'm very lucky next weekend when Cards tickets go on sale, as I plan on going to as many here as possible.
  11. Am I the only one that's looking forward to tomorrow probably a little too much?
  12. Sweet, that'll make things a whole lot easier. Thanks for the heads up.
  13. Red Sox tickets aren't going on sale tomorrow morning though. Do Phillies - Mets games usually sell out? And that's 7:30 ET, FYI to those who are planning on trying to get tickets.
  14. Wait... so are you guys planning on the 10th or the 11th? I was informed by my girlfriend earlier tonight that she doesn't want to go to Chicago unless it's a Cubs Cards game. I don't want to wait to August to go to a game at Wrigley though. So I might be in for this.
  15. I just found a link to the page which has the schedule where you choose which game you'd like to buy tickets to... only the games aren't on there yet. The title of the page is Chicago Cubs Ticketing, which I think is what it was last year. I'm hoping that come Friday at 10, the link works and I can bypass the VWR. That'd be incredible. I'll definitely share the link with you guys if it works.
  16. I'm told it's the 29th, but I haven't actually been to the website to check myself. I heard that it was the 1st, which is next Saturday. It's been on a Saturday for at least the last couple years too. And my God... $300 for a Dugout Box seat? Nothing quite like a 20% increase in prices there.
  17. Is there anyway to somewhere keep a list of all players that have been drafted? It'll make it easier to draft as we get later in the rounds. Maybe update the first post in this thread every round or something? 37. Justin Verlander 38. Erik Bedard 39. Aramis Ramirez 40. Cole Hamels 41. Larry Wayne "Chipper" Jones 42. Adam Dunn 43. Mark Teixeira 44. CC Sabathia 45. Carlos Lee 46. Lance Berkman 47. Roy Halladay 48. Carlos Zambrano 49. Scott Kazmir
  18. Hahaha, wasn't expecting that one. And this guy is teaching high schoolers? Wow. How'd he slip through the interview process?
  19. You're going to ban someone for making an off topic post in a thread that's 220 pages long? Haha, seriously?
  20. It will. I'm assuming you disagree because your little league baseball coach told you to "never slide into 1st". No, I'm disagreeing because it's absurd. How does sliding (which slows you down) get you somewhere faster than running at your fullest speed?
  21. DLee looks weird with a beard. This picture weirds me out... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2393/2265144821_22e872b459.jpg?v=1203030079
  22. Wait... is this seriously a topic? People think that sliding into first will get you there quicker than sprinting? What the?
  23. My God, now the stats geek that sits in his dorm room on the weekends and complains about the girls next door being too loud while they're having fun is dogging on Hoops? I wish I were a know it all stathead, then I could say whatever I wanted here too!
  24. I don't believe the Cubs can trade Cintron until June..although this may not apply to minor league contracts.....??? I don't think that rule applies to minor league deals, I'm not sure though. Anyone know for certain?
  25. Interesting that the O's offered him a deal, and then Hendry swooped in and signed him. This could mean a couple things. One, Hendry did it to have more leverage in the Roberts deal and include Cintron. Or two, he did it because the Roberts deal really is dead and he's basically saying "f you" to the O's. One more thing... isn't it nice that we don't have to start freaking out that he's going to get significant playing time now that Dusty is gone?
