  1. I think it's a bit hypocritical of colleges/coaches to complain about the NBA raiding there players but yet they are going after 8th graders.
  2. Shamu the Killer Cub lives off of this day! Sorry...couldn't resist. Mike & Mike were talking about this game today. The what could have been and how incredible this game was were the most talked about regarding this game. I hope Kerry shuts up all the critics and slams the door on teams for the rest of the year.
  3. I thought the runner was offsides and the home run should have been called back.
  4. I wonder if he saw what happened to Smoltz and is thinking maybe this is where I belong?
  5. 1-17 not lost by me, but yet we cant get Cedeno in the lineup with our starting 3rd baseman out. Who the heck is this Cedeno character and why does he like eating Pie on a Hill?
  6. Lost in all this is DeRosa hitting the skids. This is would be a good time for him to step up and prove he's an everyday player.
  7. He's taller than Theriot and usually the taller guy plays center. Now to see if the Cubs can get him the ball.
  8. In other news, the Tigers will never trade with the Cubs again.
  9. Milton Bradley. that would be so disgustingly Cub-like. We could have signed him for no compensation in the offseason but we feigned confidence in Pie. Give him 4 starts, panic at struggles and give up a really good prospect to obtain that guy. Matt Lawton revisited, eh?
  10. Film him having sex? Or celebrity boxing.
  11. Chris Young caught lightening in a bottle for half a season last year. He is way overvalued as a result. I would be awfully surprised if he's ever able to repeat that level of performance for more than a month or so at a time. If this is true they should sell high then.
  12. I've heard he has slept with a hot and juicy red head and mayor McCheese also.
  13. So the Pads should trade Greene for Marshall then? \:D/
  14. You're job once school is over is to find a taker. I don't want to wait that long -- get on it now He's not a football player at Penn State so he actually HAS to go to classes. No magic tudor for this guy. You'll have to stand in for him while he's gone. Wait, they do that for the players too.
  15. I'm convinced he used a whiffle ball bat when he was with the Cubs.
  16. You're job once school is over is to find a taker.
  17. Not ridiculously, but significantly? Possibly, if he thinks the ROI is good enough to cover it, and if he thinks that's what it'll take to get a deal done. What's ROI, rate of insanity?
  18. Both guys may have finally adapted to MLB pitching and I hope they both continue to grow as hitters. If Theriot can continually force pitchers to pitch and hit line drives and grounders and not the lazy Fly Balls, that would be a very good thing. Me too. It's just hard to trust Cedeno's numbers. He had 25 walks in 741 plate appearances from 2005-2007 (5 of which were IBB, which is 20%). His #p/pa is those plate appearances hovered around 3.52. Now he has 7 walks in 55 plate appearances, with a 4.2 #p/pa. Those are both dramatic changes and honestly unlikely to be sustained. But I have my fingers crossed. It's possible that Perry has worked with the players and they have seen the light. I'd love to have Perry be able to improve an average hitters approach while to help a very good hitter with slight adjustments. If he can do that, he's (Perry) worth his weight in gold.
  19. Hmmm...interesting trade. I'd like to see how Marshall would do in a starter role first though.

  21. yeah, not exactly a ringing endorsement for larry. especially since hill says he hasn't been right all year (including ST). Imo, a pitching coach may not be able to fix all the pitchers and since Hill seemed to fix his problem in AAA last year with whoever is down there, maybe that's the best coach for him to get the kinks out. Larry has his strengths and maybe this is one of his weaknesses and I think it's a good idea for Hill to work with a coach that may be more able to help him.
  22. The Yanks call up a starting pitcher from the minors and he throws a 2 hit 6 inning game. The Cubs call up a starting pitcher and they throw an old 5+ ERA guy and put the young guy(s) in the pen.
  23. this Cedeno in CF bandwagon has really got me nauseated. i do like him at SS but what on earth happened to suddenly make Cedeno a bat we absolutely must get into the lineup? I'm guessing this has something to do with it: Cedeno: .391/.472/.587 Theriot: .316/.381/.412 Cubs CF: .258/.341/.308 I'd argue that Ryan Theriot cannot be as good, and a Pie/Johnson platoon cannot be as bad, as what we've seen so far this season. But when a guy's hittling like post-steroids Bonds, teams generally try to find places to bat them until the magic wears off. And if you're simply relying on performance to date, CF looks like the logical hole to plug. [i'm not advocating looking at performance to date, but I'm trying to explain where I see Lou's thought process coming from.] If you can figure this out when it comes to about 100 other things please let us know! I really think if Lou was patient Pie would get more and more comfortable and be able to do his thing thus having Cedeno play SS and Johnson would just hit against lefties and Theriot would platoon w/Fontenot until ARam comes back. Theriot and Johnson are fools gold and a smart manager and GM would know this.
  24. Like this..."We're excited about moving Gallagher into the starting lineup but we have to find out a way to make room."
  25. Convince the Angles he can turn it around and trade him for a B Prospect and pay some of his salary.
