  1. Why? Poor radio reception in the corner there? It's a Bartman thing!
  2. It's a byproduct of spacing out the playoffs games so far. In baseball, the difference between a 4 game series and a 7 game series is 4 days. In basketball, the difference is 8 days. I remember one year the Celtics were up 2-0 in the Championship and the Lakers hadn't won the West yet.
  3. I like the idea of a Cuban type owner that will put up the money and want to win but only as long as he doesn't interfere with GM decisions. If he turns out to be a Peter Angelos type owner it won't be pretty but if the GM says I want an ARod and he says you have the green light, cool.
  4. Just don't sit in the left field corner.
  5. For two whole innings, too. One more inning and he would have had a save. I hope his agent called Lou and complained!
  6. 'Cuse, you have my expressed written consent to borrow from my work, so long as you cite me as your source. Thanks Fred, you're a gentleman and a scholar.
  7. I want Hank White at third. Dudes got a gun.
  8. I'll be honest here...I'm thrilled the Cubs have 2 SS's hitting this well and I hope it continues.
  9. I'd wonder how much this tally would fluctuate given the point in season. It would make the stock market look like a home plate.
  10. No....no way. It's NYC's thing and that's the way it should stay.
  11. I used to be more for Theriot because I thought he also ran the bases better but he has screwed up a lot lately on the base paths and now Ronny has it over him in every way except for SB's.
  12. Didn't he play for Oklahoma? I don't think this really counts raisin. :P http://images.bruinsnation.com/images/admin/Neuheisel.Aikman.jpg Aww, with Neuheisel. No pictures of Switzer showing him how to run an option?
  13. Sucks to be Salt Lake City. Will be fantastic to play a bowl game in an undomed stadium in DC in December. I'm hoping that they have bowls for the teams that finish in last and then have a playoff to see who was the best worst.

  15. Trade him while he's hot and you might be able to get some quality for him. This would be a wonderful time to sell high.
  16. I think Wood has the potential to be a very good closer but I also think he's getting a free pass because so many of us like him. And if you want him to reach that potential, perhaps removing him from the closer's role after a one month isn't the best idea. He's not the only one who has had some problems this season. Howry and Wuertz have a history of success and both have been shaky at best this year. Marmol is most valuable in the situations in which he's currently being used. I don't like the idea of taking him out of those situations and saving him for the 9th just so he can get a save. I never said to remove him. I said he's getting a free pass due to being a popular Cub and needs to improve. I never said you did. The original poster has wanted him removed from that role since the middle of spring training. Not everything is about you. :P I'm also not arguing that some people may be giving him a free pass due to his popularity amongst fans, but that's obviously not my reason for wanting to keep him in that role. Then quote who you are talking too! :D I wonder how Smoltz did when he first started as a closer and if he struggled in the beginning as well and then turned it up.

  18. who? He's an invisible rabbit that Raisin sees sometimes.
  19. I agree and I hope once it warms up a little Wood will turn up his own brand of heat.
  20. Hey Fred, since you put that little copyright thingee at the bottom of your post, do we have to ask permission to quote it?
  21. I think Wood has the potential to be a very good closer but I also think he's getting a free pass because so many of us like him.
  22. Wood has to pick it up. You just said that Marmol had the tougher part of the lineup at a tougher time so Wood must have had an easier part of the lineup to face along with starting off the inning. Marmol is doing his job and the other guys in the pen have to step up.
  23. I don't agree with the "he's never closed before" argument but he hasn't really done well in that role yet. If Dempster was pitching like that in the closer role I'd bet we'd have a lot more threads than Wood has had.
  24. I would rather have Soriano's and if I did I'd fly you all into Wrigley to watch the game! Or, if you meant which player I'd rather have on the Cubs, it would be Soriano even though I think Zito, being left handed, may have more value at the end of his contract.
