  1. Sorry to hear that raisin.
  2. it's better than a broken jaw or being a ginger He's not normally a slow starter, at least not this slow. He's what...around 28/29? I wonder if playing in Wrigley would give him a little jolt of confidence.
  3. I had a dream this happened. Ricky Weeks charged Carlos Marmol. Marmol and Soto put him in some weird tag team wrestling move and then Derek Lee came over and punched Braun in the face knocking him out. It was pretty awesome. (I dream about the Cubs too much.) hahaha, that's an awesome visual. I hope there are no bench clearing brawls, though. I fear that Zambrano may actually kill a man and wind up in jail. I could totally see him breaking Craig Counsell over his knee. And holding him up and pretending to have a batting stance like Counsell has.
  4. I wonder if the cold might keep Sheets shoulder a little tighter than normal.
  5. Look at his home/away splits: http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bsplit.cgi?n1=greenkh01&year=00#locat-hmvis Get him away from those cavernous ballparks in the NL west and he tends to rake. You mean like those cavernous places where offense goes to die like Arizona and Coors? The splits would be more informative if the OPS+ number was adjusted for the league, not the team also. The split is obviously hinged more on Petco than anywhere else. It's a pretty startling difference, especially in regard to his power numbers. It's not a stretch at all to think that his home numbers would drastically improve hitting in a place like Wrigley as his home park instead of Petco. Parks like that can weigh on a hitters mind imo and change his mechanics as well. .
  6. Brohm has hurt his knee once, maybe twice he's had surgery on it. I don't think he'd be comfortable behind your line and the offensive scheme the Bears run unless they've gone to more of a short pass attack.
  7. I'd guess Cedeno unless they don't know what they're doing, Theriot. I'd hate like hell to give up Ronny. Two best everyday prospects (I don't think of Soto as one cause he's doing fine) yeah, it'll hurt. I'd hate to give up Cedeno too, but I guess he really dosen't have a place if Greene is on the team. Before the season started I would have jumped at the prospect of getting Greene for Pie+Cedeno but I'm not sure now. Cedeno may never be better than Greene, but I'm starting to think that he might be close enough that I wouldn't want to lose Pie for the difference. He'd be a decent backup SS/2B and if DeRosa goes into an offensive slide he could fill in ok enough bat wise and be an upgrade defensively. Yeah, Pie and Cedeno going would sting but I'm not sure what the Pads have in the minor SS wise, maybe they have a guy ready to come up? They don't, so it's all but assured Cedeno or Theriot would be included, with the former bing much more likely. The new Brian Roberts thread starts NOW. I'm betting this one makes it to 200 pages by the end of May. Wow...and I would be there right from the beginning! Imagine if the Cubs went out and got Greene AND Roberts?

  9. I wonder if they would throw in Murton as well? Do any of you think this has anything to do with the thread that says Lou is not happy with Pie and this writer is speculating form that?
  10. I'd love to know who the Cubs think is the better SS for the future, Cedeno or Theriot. What worries me is if the Cubs think Theriot is a true 2 hitter and deal Ronny.
  11. After hitting a pivotal shot, he yelled and taunted Paul Pierce who had fallen to the ground. Of course Pierce responded by trailing behind Horford to midcourt and flashing a Blood sign. Gang or vampire?

  14. Reed is Gary Gietti (sp) and the Cubs are going to make a possible long term commitment to him. I think Pie would do well hitting in SD with that big park. He may lead the league in triples for years.
  15. Plus...unlike Soriano, he may not want anything to do with hitting first.
  16. I have a brick house....ok enough about my wife....but yeah, I had ivy growing out of my house. Had to pull it down, because wife didn't like it growing around the telephone wires. She didn't have interest in our house looking like Wrigley Field. Ok Lionel. How quick did it grow? We have these ugly metal fence things and if I can put ivy on it, it has to make it look better.
  17. Who says they have given up on him? The comments from Lou and the extra work he is putting in with Pie himself suggests otherwise. The Cubs have given up on Pie and hate Murton, haven't you been reading? I limit my reading to the non-reactionary non-extremist stable sky posters and/or sources personally. So I haven't seen anything to suggest the organization has given up on Pie. And Murton just seems to be the hard luck odd-man out. That was sarcasm TD.
  18. Wrong Howard. Which one was it?
  19. George Brown (Corcoran NY) St. Johns...8-0 6 walks in 65.3 innings with 47 K's.
  20. There's something to be said about reefer madness...Howard 21 points and 21 rebounds.
  21. How that GM, who gave Morris that contract and then Zito, has a job....incredible.
  22. Yeah, his name is mud at this point. And Mac is Booth, the shooter!
  23. Ummm...by having the best record in the division? :-"
  24. Cool. I'm thinking of putting ivy on my fence this year.
