  1. And go to the World Series more often!
  2. "Fat part of the bat to the ball, and with his tremendous bat speed and barrel awareness." Not as erotic as some, but still a little creepy. What the hell is barrel awareness? Never worked much with a hitting coach, eh? No, and I never used nonsensical phrases to describe a good hitter either. I hope Vitters pans out and becomes an every day ML player. I'm glad he didn't say sweet spot of the bat!
  3. How is Fuld doing at Iowa? A sterling .192/.288/.269 in 52 ABs Wow....that ain't good. Thanks JG.
  4. I remember going to a game in the 30's and sitting in those luxury seats. They folded out into a sleeper sofa and came with an automatic awning if it rained. they want to restore it to it's original look? i think they should mandate that every man in attendance where's a wool suit and a bowler hat Dang tootin.
  5. Well I believe this guys has claimed to have some type of source with the Cubs. So who knows at this point, but nothing with Lou would surprise me right now. I do admit Lou is breaking my heart with some of his recent moves and this one would top it off. That being said, this would just be plain foolish unless the Cubs are convinced Pie will never be the player we thought he was going to be. Year 2020....the Cubs reacquire Felix Pie for 2 top pitching prospects. Pie was traded during the 2008 season for Roberts and has averaged 25 home runs and had a 310/370 line until this past season when he had a leg amputated. The Cubs are hoping to have him hit righty pitching while their new prospect Hogg learns to hit major league pitching at the AAA level.

  7. My Lord, it was written by Sullivan of all people, why would any of you believe it?
  8. San Diego's biggest problem right now is offense. Pie certainly doesn't fix that. With that big park and his speed, he and Marshall would be really good guys to get for them and if they threw him out there everyday, he might flourish.
  9. I think that's why Zell has tried to sell Wrigley first, so he can have the team sign a lease with the owner of Wrigley that the new owner would be locked into. So, in theory a new owner of the team without Wrigley could build a new park, but if they are locked into a lease they would be tied to the park for at least as long as the lease is for. Thanks vance. I don't see how that would make the Cubs as attractive not having Wrigley as part of the deal. What if a buyer A will give 2X over buyer B if Wrigley is part of the deal? Is it possible Zell is trying to see if someone will swoop in and buy both now before he breaks them up?
  10. Isn't there still a possibility that he could go to prison as well? Hey, maybe Rog should complain about not being picked up as well.
  11. well this is a little ironic. Don't ya think? Pot. Kettle. Black. I think the proper response would have been it's like rain on your wedding day. I don't remember pot. kettle. black.
  12. If someone else owns Wrigley, what's to stop the new owner from building a stadium somewhere else?
  13. I know over the weekend Ward had a hamstring issue. He's been available for pinch-hitting, but that's it. Ahhh...I see, thanks CCP. He just sits on a bench, how could he have hurt it? :-s
  14. Bonds wouldn't get out of bed for that much. Well considering he isn't getting any offers right now to play....I can't see how he wouldn't take any kind of deal, especially if he wants to play again. But if he thinks he can get a better deal (RIGHT NOW, it is unlikely) by waiting till the July deadline, to see if any injury occurs,s o be it, but right now, I doubt anybody is going to offer more the prorated $7 mill dollars for Bonds. He can do the Clemens thing, wait around until June/July and get a boatload of cash for a couple months of work.
  15. I have no idea why Ward didn't get some time in left in the game last yesterday.
  16. Aaron Shinsano said (in 1908's original post) Lee is "right around 4 seconds" from home to first. The average big league lefty is 4.2 seconds from home to first. So nothing too out of the ordinary? The article made him sound Jose Reyes fast.. Certainly not Jose Reyes speed and someone can correct me on this but I believe a lefty at 4.0 seconds to first is a 70 on the 20-80 scale. 3.91-4.00-70 runner 4.01-4.10-60 runner Is that an NBA ref 4.0 or real time 4.0?
  17. No defense in walks. Missals ain't good either but if you can't even throw a strike, you have problems. Well lets see What was the score when Hill left the game compared to when Lieber left the game, and then tell me where the bigger problem is. The difference being a guy that shouldn't be starting and a pitcher who had a tough time finding the strike zone. When Hill was walking batters like that, what would you do in that game? My point is when Lieber is giving up shot after shot he gets to stay in the game and finish an inning, but while Hill struggles to find his location he is yanked. Which seems more likely, Hill gets one across the plate and they hit a grounder somewhere, or Lieber suddenly starts missing bats and quits giving up hit after hit? I think both get taken out early. I would like to see the percentages of a guy like Hill being able to come back and throw strikes without grooving one and having that sent over the fence and for Lieber's rockets to find gloves instead of stands. The thing is, if Hill is behind. often he will go to the middle of the plate thus making those walks runs/hard hit balls. I think a past history of a pitcher should help decide if they can overcome the balls and start hitting their spots.
  18. My lord. Jeeze, I don't what is the better thing to give up a HR or a walk. Of course it's better to give up a walk. Think Ankiel, what is he doing right now? He wasn't close to the strike zone so he is no longer a pitcher. A pitcher that can not get ahead in the count and doesn't have a fastball he can hit in spots or maybe another pitch can not pitch that effectively in MLB. Walking batters or constantly being behind in the count is going to hurt about every pitcher in baseball.

  20. No defense in walks. Missals ain't good either but if you can't even throw a strike, you have problems. We're not really arguing whether giving up a HR is better than walking someone, are we? No. I'm talking about throwing strikes vs balls. Are you? Because that involves the batter's choices as well and isn't purely on the pitcher. There is a way to get a good result out of a pitch outside the strike zone. OK...how is Z doing this year since he improved his ball to strike ratio? #2..if you are around the plate you also have more of a chance. When a pitcher is way out of the strike zone you have none.
  21. I think his point is by walking batters you have no defense but at least throwing strikes you have one. Not when the balls land in the stands Then you shouldn't be pitching if that's the case, if that is happening too often.
  22. Or a 3 hour delay and Dusty puts him back in there.
  23. Time for Rocket to run naked on the field and keep away from the security guards as long as possible to give the rain a chance to come.
