  1. iirc hendry said prior would start the year as the 'sixth starter' That means he'll just start the second game of double headers.
  2. You have to learn how to do the Blue Devil Flop.
  3. And some people didn't want to make any more trades with Baltimore!
  4. What about Bernie Williams for one year or have his skills completely deteriorated?
  5. I hope he's ok. I'd hate to go to a hospital in Florida, it's Dr. Nickville.
  6. I can't even watch the grass grow, we have too much snow! I think once someone makes a move a domino effect may happen, kind of like the rush for certain postion players in the NFL draft.
  7. What CFer is avalable that is left handed and has power assuming Soriano is in RF? If the Cubs use Soriano is CF I'd like to see them go after Dunn if possible. To me it makes much more sense to put Soriano back at 2nd, but that isn't going to happen. The Cubs are put together like a Piccaso painting from his Cubist period. Piccaso was Cuban? Jones is a CF with power, or at least he could be. I can't imagine Lofton or Lugo playing any better defensively. They also don't throw the ball into the ground as well! I imagine the Cubs could try either Soriano or Jones and see who does the best in CF.
  8. And just a couple of years ago he was out there just for his contract. Amazing.
  9. Do any other trades come to mind where Hendry vastly overpaid? He gave up a living, breathing human being for Jose Macias. Originally the Expos wanted a keg of Old Style but Hendry turned them down.
  10. He walks a ton of guys. That amazes me as he throws a ton of first-pitch fastballs. You'd think he'd be able to get ahead in the count and that would trim his walks down. It's so unlike Hendry to go after a pitcher that walks a lot of guys.
  11. I don't know, but if the Cubs trade JJ they will need to get a slugger or a high OBP guy for SS or CF. The angle I'm seeing is that they'll trade Jones for some pitching, then turnaround and sign Lofton and Trot Nixon (Mr. Miles' pick). Soriano will play RF, Lofton in CF and Nixon and Murton platoon in LF. I don't know what Trot's salary demands are, but he'd be a better pick-up right now than Cliff Floyd in my opinion. Cliff would have been fine in a Sosa deal 2 years ago. I don't see why Soriano can't play CF or 2B? You can always get good hitters for RF....well decent anyway and more impact bats than in CF or 2B. I read that Soriano said he would play wherever the Cubs what him to play including 2nd.
  12. Is ESPN covering these meetings like last year?
  13. I wanted the Cubs to trade Prior and others for Tejada last year along with signing Lofton instead of trading for Pierre. Now, the Cubs could have thrown all the pitchers they traded to Florida plus Pie, Jones and others for Cabrera or another major impact hitter or pitcher. Now, it's damage control and hope they have enough money to fill the major holes they have.
  14. Or count on Murton to grow into a middle of the order bat in 2007. I wish that would happen, Tim, but I think it's unlikely. His GB/FB ratio was third highest in MLB last year. There are some pretty good hitters with high GB/FB ratios, but not many that would be middle-of-the-order hitters. Murton has good plate discipline, but he'd probably need to change his swing if he were called upon to hit with more power. I believe that he'll make that adjustment as he goes along. I think he will too. I like how he adjusted as the year went along and he'll be a fine hitter for this lineup. If Murton hits like I think he can and all other hitters have their normal career years while Izturis has a career year, this team might not be a bad hitting team. I know, hoping that Izturis has a career year is foolish but unless Hendry upgrades that postion we have to hope he does. I am curious on what Lou thinks of Theriot.
  15. I'm sick to death of playing the ACC every year in the bowls. Some of these tie ins really stink. IMO it should go right down the line BCS wise: OSU vs Florida Michigan vs LSU USC vs Louisville Wisconsin vs Boise St Auburn vs Oklahoma Good games IMO even though the voters still have too much power to determine who goes where.
  16. He scares me because he's the prototypical Hendry type guy.
  17. If Meyere doesn't want to sound like a whinny baby he should still complain about the BCS. If he doesn't, he's just a wuss.
  18. I really, really don't see how you can compare the one loss teams. A playoff is needed and these "voters" don't having any more info then we do, possibly less.
  19. Or they hate Coach Carr! That's a funny poll.
  20. I hope Michigan goes to the BCS Championship because that would cause the SEC to throw a huge fit and maybe force a playoff.
  21. I really feel sorry for Louisville. Even if they kill Wake Forest it will be like when Utah beat Pitt a couple years ago and the excuse from small conference haters was Pitt sucked (which was true). Either way nobody gave Utah credit and I don't see Louisville getting any credit if they win this game. The system works against the Big East right now.
  22. I heard somebody talk about a play in game. Let Florida play Michigan and see who plays OSU.
