  1. If Z does not want to sign with the Cubs I would try to move him for ARod in a 3 way deal: Cubs get: ARod (Cubs pay all of his salary) and #3 or #4 pitcher from Yanks Yanks get: Z, Cedeno/Izturis, Ohman, Moore, pitching prospect and a third baseman from undeclosed team Undeclosed team: Young pitching prospects (maybe some of the ones in the D-Backs deal) from Yanks, and prospects from Cubs. The key to me is to find a team that has a decent 3rd baseman to be able to be that third team. It does leave the Cubs without a #1 pitcher but it gives the Cubs more of a lineup to build upon and if Hill does indeed step up like last year they would have their #1. Hill, Marques, Lilly, Guy from Yanks, and who ever steps up between Miller, Prior, and the M boys. Question marks? Yes. But a lineup of: Soriano Murton ARod Lee Rameriz Barrett Jones DeRosa Would be wonderful.
  2. I've never thought Grossman was going to be a good NFL QB. He made horrible decisions in college and continues to do so. I think Grossmans value is as a backup QB. If a QB like Orton is struggling and the Bears are losing Grossman is the kind of guy that may be able to rally them back, way better than Oton IMO. But, as a starter he may put the Bears in a bad situation and if the defense starts to get worn down mentally and physically because of his mistakes they will get booted out of the playoffs. I really don't think Grossman is strong enough mentally to be the kind of QB that he is. Farve makes mistakes but he has faith in his ability to be able to overcome them. I don't think Grossman can do that. If Grossman has a bad game and the Bears fall behind by 14 or so and then put in Greise or Orton I think that will be the recipe for disaster. That's why I think it would be better to have a smartly managed game by a QB for the Bears and if things do go sour, then put Grossman in.
  3. I want him to be dominate and then the Cubs trade him and Wood comes in and is even more dominate! I know many have mentioned this but I think it was the lack of consistant work for Dempster that was his downfall. Is he a great closer or has the potential to be one, I don't think so. But, I think he could be a good to very good one. If he can keep his WHIP down by improving his ball/strike ratio I think he'll be just fine.
  4. Assuming Wood is healthy? Then: If Prior can't pitch enough to start, he'll be on the DL. If Miller can't pitch enough to start, he'll either be on the DL or waived. I'm not sure about that Tim. If Prior is having "strength" problems he might have to work out of the pen in order to get himself back in shape. It's possible he might go to Iowa for a short stint but his whole situation seems strange to me and the pen might be a place where he can still contribute to the Cubs. I definately see Miller coming out of the pen if he can't start and since when has Hendry actually let a guy go by releasing him?
  5. What is going to happen if Prior and Miller can only pitch out of the pen too? That pen is going to be very crowded if that's the case.
  6. What an exciting game. It's too bad a playoff is out of the cards because these games would have made for a very memorable December Maddness. What does hurt the push for a playoff is that Michigan got crushed by USC. That gets rid of one of the squeaky wheels and only if Florida beats Ohio State will we have any controversy.
  7. IMO Hendry is fixated on a lefty bat and it seems things have come to a standstill until that is accomplished,
  8. They never did and having White and Slaton hurt is not going to make things better.
  9. Is Nebraska a young team? If they are I think they are going to be the team to beat in the Big 12. If Penn State had an offense they would have had a chance at the National Championship. Their QB is a senior but most of the playmakers are sophomores or juniors. I know their best defensive player, Adam Carriker, is a senior...but I don't know about the rest of the defense. Thanks raisin. I have a funny feeling about them for next year and it might involve a BCS thing.
  10. Don't forget Arkansas/Wisconsin starting shortly. Why would you care about that game? :D
  11. Here's a thread that was started by a brilliant man: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=37356
  12. Me either. I wonder if it would be better for Johnsons career to be a closer instead?

  14. He's probably going to dinner with Roger after the game to get a laugh out of how everyone makes a big deal out their umteenth last game.
  15. In his "compare stats" it lists Trinidad "the kid" Hubbard.
  16. He's a 33 year old OF with 1 season where he had an ops over .696 (a pretty solid 2004). The last 2 years (while, mind you, playing OF) he was neifi-bad with the bat. They're ugly. He sounds like Russ Gload.
  17. Is he the disappointing former FSU quarterback? Name a Florida St. QB that hasn't been.
  18. I have never heard of this gentleman and I'm surprised no one has put his stats out there yet. Are they really that bad?
  19. Is Northwestern State one of those on line schools? They're the team that beat Iowa in the tourney last year with the miracle 3. That's right, I forgot. The name just seems like an on line school to me.
  20. A real man weeps.
  21. You do realize what you just wrote, right? It is the Lions.
  22. You're about 3 days older than dirt, eh? Evidently. I'm still looking for a "Bo Knows Hockey" shirt.

  24. Lion/Cowboy game....Auburn has been putting RB's into the NFL since all the way back to Bo Jackson? Wow, I must be getting old when someone says that!
  25. I love Boxing Day! Where does JP live?
