  1. Don't know if this was mentioned in the previous 29 pages or not, but with the possibility of Nelson Cruz being suspended, does anyone think the Rangers would be interested in reacquiring Soriano? While he's nor as good a hitter as Cruz, he could probably do a decent job of being productive in that ballpark, with that lineup around him and the continued warm weather in TX. What would he be worth?
  2. As I was first reading that quote, I thought it was something Hawk said on telecast.
  3. Despite both teams not being very good, I look forward to watching both telecasts of the game tonight (flipping back and forth on DVR mode) just to see the difference in play-by-play/color between douche and douchier versus Len & JD. Hopefully the Cubs can win and there's something controversial so douchier can go into full meltdown mode.

  5. Just walked in his first AB versus Quintana. Fouled off the first 3-2 offering before taking ball 4 high and away.
  6. The first one, Sori called for it and Castro didn't stop. The second one, Sori let Castro make a very good (difficult) play when it would've been routine for Sori. That can't happen!! :banghead:
  7. Was gonna catch a Cougars game in the next couple of weeks and was hoping to see Rademacher.
  8. Win or lose, I hope Feldman is lights out!!
  9. Masterson has shut out the White Sox twice this year....so far!!
  10. Would love to see Sori get hot over the next month, especially in the power department.
  11. The White Sox played pretty good fundamental baseball last year. They were also one of the top fielding teams in baseball last year. While there's not much a manager can do about talent, it is often referenced that a team's fundamentals can be directly related to coaching. The Sox are very poor in this area in 2013. I would tend to think this has to be at least partially the responsibility of the coaching given the fact that it's basically the same team from a year ago. My assertion is not that Ventura is a poor manager, but rather, he's just an average manager through 1 1/2 seasons.
  12. I agree the White Sox are not very good. Actually, not good at all. But often when a team is not fundamentally sound, when a team makes mental errors, base running errors, missing cut offs or throwing to the wrong base, etc......those tend to be directly related to coaching. The team makeup hasn't changed significantly from last year. And yet this year, they seem like a completely different team with essentially the same players. Ozzie was a jackass, but I don't think he accepted lackadaisical play.
  13. Through yesterday's doubleheader, Robin Ventura is 75-87 in his last 162 games as the White Sox manager. Much like the White Sox fielding, base running and generally baseball abilities as a team in 2012, Ventura's success as a manager last season may also have been a FLUKE.
  14. I believe Hawk is FINALLY realizing the Sox are not a good team.
  15. Anybody just catch the dude putting on the "Marmol Sucks" T-shirt in the background. They were just showing a close up of Sori in the batter's box, and in the background, the dud was putting on the shirt.
  16. But that isn't what Sveum is saying in the quote...at least not how I interpret it. Saying he needs more ABs is completely different that stating he "can't find" a day off to give Starlin a breather.
  17. Everyone should have a price. If some team is willing to overpay.....
  18. Using strictly my recollections (no stats), they seem very prone to fouling off two-strike pitches before eventually whiffing. Seems like they swing at a lot of bad pitches to keep the AB alive instead of taking balls and going deep in the count. Could be a reason for the # of pitches per AB being high but the OBP being down. Good at contact but not good at putting ball in play.
  19. Link to Sun-Times Casn someone please explain that quote to me. It makes it sound as if Sveum is bound by something to keep Castro in the lineup, and that as soon as he's able, Castro will get a game off. WTF?!?!? Tomorrow - Saturday, June 22, 2013 - Barney at SS, Valbuena at 2nd and Ransom at 3rd. Castro with the day off. IS it really any more difficult than that???? Or am I missing something????
  20. Sveum's been a manager for exactly 1 season and 2months. Why, like young players, is he not afforded an opportunity to gain experience and learn from mistakes. I'd rather he make mistakes as a manager while the Cubs are bottom feeders than when they actually field of competitive team day in and day out. If the Cubs had a strong BP and a top closer, handling the pen would be easy.
  21. In a prefect scenario, he would NOT be wearing a Cub home uniform.
  22. I'll be surprised if the Cubs are 10-12 games close to .500 on that date. I'll also be surprised if Feldman can keep pitching as well as he has.
  23. Cubs Round #1 - Kris Bryant - 3B Cubs Round #2 - Rob Zastryzny - SP Cubs Day Two Picks - Rounds 3 thru 10 Cubs Day Three Picks - Rounds 11 thru 40 2013 Draft Day Thread I'm suggesting a separate thread for each of the above topics. That way someone doesn't have to scroll through 41 pages to get insight on a specific pick(s). Rather than having mixed discussions in the same thread about the different picks, each thread could have dialogue about the specific pick or picks. Not complaining....just suggesting. :-)
  24. I don't follow the baseball draft quite like I do for the NFL, but here's something that's done on a Packers Forum I go to that I think is a good idea. It's great that there's a thread following the MLB draft as it unfolds. But why not 'sticky' a thread for each Cub pick once it's made (at least the top couple picks). Then specific comments could go under that thread once the pick is made and it could stay 'stickied' for a day, a week, a month....whatever time frame you choose. So it would look something like this: Cubs Round #1 - Kris Bryant - 3B Cubs Round #2 - Rob Zastryzny - SP Cubs Day Two Picks - Rounds 3 thru 10 Cubs Day Three Picks - Rounds 11 thru 40 2013 Draft Day Thread In the Day 2 and Day 3 threads, the first post could track the players as they're selected by editing the post. And then the rest of the post could be dedicated to specific comments like their signability or when they actually sign, where they're assigned in the organization, etc. Just a thought. :-)
