Yes, lets replace Hill with a guy who hit for an even worse average, got on base even less, was worse on defense, and made over a million dollars more. But he said he was "gonna prove he's healthy and can perform".
Please don't.....in any capacity. Hoping you realize that, that entire post was sarcasm. I did. It's just that even a mere thought of that tool coming back to the Cubs, sarcasm or not, makes my skin crawl!
I convinced many of the "hollywood/star entertainers" are on some type of illicit drug prior to the 7th inning. Many of them are just whacked in the booth!
I more disappointed Bradley, Dempster, Fontenot, Soriano, Soto, Marmol, Harden, Zambrano and Rammy (due to injury) didn't do more.....in the first half of the season. Hendry put together a pretty good lineup that has under-produced until recently.
Tim, how could you not enjoy watching the Sox games. Listening to Hawk is a hoot....especially when they lose. He's so bitter and whiney. I get great joys from it. And I love how he's convinved the "Stone Pony" that the umps have it in for the Sox with regard to the strike zone. He complains all the time and Stoney has grown fond of agreeing with him!! Sit back and try to enjoy. It's really easy and fun!!
While I don't believe Steve Stone is "in love" with the Cubs, I believe most his his angst is towards Jim Hendry. And after reading his twitter comments, they mostly deal with moves Hendry did or didn't make. Stone used to be a really good analyst. But he's gotten way to "angry" and arrogant, and him teaming with the Hawkeroo is not good for Steve Stone. Like dipping pretzels into dog poo, separately one is decent. Together, it's really just dog poo!!
Anyone notice how often Hawk complains about the umpires' strike zones (when its unfavorable for the Sox) and Stoney has felt compelled to "agree" with Hawk regularly. Stone's commentary is much like that of any athlete. He WAS fresh and compelling early on. But he peaked a while back and is on the downside of his "career". SCREW HIM!!!
Fox (and Hoff for that matter) might be better suited for a team without playoff expectations where he would be able to get 20+ ABs each week and time to develop his skills in the field. But once Rammy gets back, Fox is gonna be on the bench. Gonna be hard for him to sustain any consistent bat when he's on ly getting 4-5ABs each week. I don't think he has a future with the Cubs, so if another team thinks they can develop him, trade while he's hitting!
I suspect Fox's AVG will slowly (or quickly) creep down toward .250 or lower as he gets more ABs, much like has been happening with Hoff. I'd be all for trading him while he's still got some value. as far as being able to play multiple positions, big deal. I'm sure Hoff wouldn't butcher ever groundball hit his way if he were playing SS or 2B. But the reality is, he's an average (at best) LF or RF.
So with all the glowing reports of Vitters.....do we REALLY want the Cubs to trade him for Peavy or anyone else??? Also, while it would've been great to have DeRosa right now, especially with Rammy out and Fontenot struggling, it seems like to Cubs got three pretty good prospects in return. Might end up being a good trade.
