  1. Can Aramis be put on the DL if he's hurting the team???
  2. There are only two known things that have really changed since last season: his age and his health (possibly). While he's a year older, I really don't see how that one year could affect his batting that much. I could see a decline as he gets older, but his drop off from last year (due to age) doesn't really make sense. I don't see how his injured shoulder from last year could be affecting his batting to this degree either. I could see it affecting his power, but he just looks clueless at the plate. Flat out missing meatballs, swinging at balls way out of the zone. He's just not getting very many good ABs. So I can't see how the shoulder could be the problem. Maybe there's some other injury/personal problem the fans/media don't know about. Dempster was battling some personal issues early last season and was horrid. Once things got cleared up on the home front, he was much better. If Lou's not gonna bench him for an extended period of time, he has got to move him out of the 4-6 spot in the lineup. Auto outs with men on is killing the team, especially when he can't even put the ball in play in clutch situations.
  3. Ramirez needs to be on the bench for an extended period of time, or at the very least, batting no higher than 7th in the lineup.
  4. So a pitcher can be charged with "earned runs" (in this case, Z and Marshall) whereas they are "unearned runs" for team statistics. Is this correct?
  5. In that crappy 7th inning yesterday here is what playe dout: - X. Nady in right field - M. Fontenot at second - E. Caridad relieved T. Gorzelanny - O. Cabrera safe at first on shortstop S. Castro's fielding error - O. Cabrera stole second - B. Phillips safe at first on second baseman M. Fontenot's fielding error, O. Cabrera to third - S. Marshall relieved E. Caridad - J. Votto walked, B. Phillips to second - C. Zambrano relieved S. Marshall - S. Rolen struck out swinging - J. Gomes singled to shallow right center, O. Cabrera and B. Phillips scored, J. Votto to third - J. Bruce grounded out to first, J. Gomes to second - D. Stubbs singled to shortstop, J. Votto and J. Gomes scored - R. Hanigan doubled to shallow right, D. Stubbs scored - L. Nix hit for A. Rhodes - L. Nix grounded out to third I've checked a couple of box scores, and they each show earned runs charged to Marshall and Zambrano. But for the two errors, the Cubs would've gotten out of the inning after Rolen struck out without allowing any runs. So how are these "earned"??? Is there a difference between "pitcher earned runs" versus "team earned runs"????
  6. Lefties often find jobs in this league, so Grabow may have trade value....even when he sucks. Miles was/is a disaster.
  7. I'd rather see ARam get a couple days in a row off. He's bad at the plate and in the field. Font, Baker (or Tracy if he were still on the roster) could make outs just as easy as Rammy has.
  8. Fun game to watch. And just when I was getting tired of the nonsense - hooked again.
  9. Kevin Gregg blows another save, this time for the Jays.
  10. Hawk Harrelson bitchin' about the umps again. I love it!! :-))
  11. Tuffy Castro? I'd prefer "Ryno" Castro
  12. Give him a day off to get his head right.
  13. Thankfully there's men on base. Castro makes outs when the bases are empty....or so says the stats.
  14. Castro is leading the Majors in batting average and slugging! Tied for 9th on the team in RBIs.
  15. Hardest part of the cycle out of the way.......
  16. I think I'd give Rammy a couple of games in a row off. He's just totally sucking all around. Chad Tracey sucking in the lineup wouldn't be as potentially "psychologically damaging" in the lon run than Rammy in the lineup making bad AB after bad AB. Looks like it's carried onto the field, at least tonight. Or maybe stick him on the DL with a strained Patton and let him get some "rehab" ABs off minor league pitching.
  17. The Pirates lost three straight to the Dodgers, outscored 20-5, before the series with the Cubs. The Cubs hit the hell out of the ball the last three games of the D'backs series and won all 3. That after dropping 4 of 5 to the Mets and AZ with virtually no offense. The Brewers beat the crap out of the Bucs in a 3 game series only to get completely shut down the following series by the Cubs. It happens. The play in the previous series often doesn't matter. The Reds have been just as inconsistent as the Cubs. And their manager is an even bigger idiot!
  18. I hate this lineup because the only "righty" off the bench to PH is Koyie Hill. If Soto was gonna miss a game in the series, I would've had him miss tonight. If the Cubs need a PH at a critical point later in the game, it's gonna be a lefty (or Hill). Doesn't make a BP decision very difficult for the Pirates manager .
  19. This year, when Soriano does start to hit a slump, the Cubs have 2 capable backups (at least for now) in Colvin and Nady. I expect Nady to hit and Colvin has been doing well. With these two on the roster, the Cubs won't have to keep Alf in the lineup day after day while he struggles out of a slump. A little depth is always nice!
  20. Maybe it's Trammel that's the shitty decision-maker. You know, like Lou gets liquored up the night before and passes out in his office. Trammel finds him the next day completely wrecked, so he tapes his eyelids open, puts him in a fresh uniform and dumps him on the bench. Kinda like "Weekend at Bernie's". Nah, probably not.
