  1. Link to Sun-Times Casn someone please explain that quote to me. It makes it sound as if Sveum is bound by something to keep Castro in the lineup, and that as soon as he's able, Castro will get a game off. WTF?!?!? Tomorrow - Saturday, June 22, 2013 - Barney at SS, Valbuena at 2nd and Ransom at 3rd. Castro with the day off. IS it really any more difficult than that???? Or am I missing something????
  2. Sveum's been a manager for exactly 1 season and 2months. Why, like young players, is he not afforded an opportunity to gain experience and learn from mistakes. I'd rather he make mistakes as a manager while the Cubs are bottom feeders than when they actually field of competitive team day in and day out. If the Cubs had a strong BP and a top closer, handling the pen would be easy.
  3. In a prefect scenario, he would NOT be wearing a Cub home uniform.
  4. I'll be surprised if the Cubs are 10-12 games close to .500 on that date. I'll also be surprised if Feldman can keep pitching as well as he has.
  5. Cubs Round #1 - Kris Bryant - 3B Cubs Round #2 - Rob Zastryzny - SP Cubs Day Two Picks - Rounds 3 thru 10 Cubs Day Three Picks - Rounds 11 thru 40 2013 Draft Day Thread I'm suggesting a separate thread for each of the above topics. That way someone doesn't have to scroll through 41 pages to get insight on a specific pick(s). Rather than having mixed discussions in the same thread about the different picks, each thread could have dialogue about the specific pick or picks. Not complaining....just suggesting. :-)
  6. I don't follow the baseball draft quite like I do for the NFL, but here's something that's done on a Packers Forum I go to that I think is a good idea. It's great that there's a thread following the MLB draft as it unfolds. But why not 'sticky' a thread for each Cub pick once it's made (at least the top couple picks). Then specific comments could go under that thread once the pick is made and it could stay 'stickied' for a day, a week, a month....whatever time frame you choose. So it would look something like this: Cubs Round #1 - Kris Bryant - 3B Cubs Round #2 - Rob Zastryzny - SP Cubs Day Two Picks - Rounds 3 thru 10 Cubs Day Three Picks - Rounds 11 thru 40 2013 Draft Day Thread In the Day 2 and Day 3 threads, the first post could track the players as they're selected by editing the post. And then the rest of the post could be dedicated to specific comments like their signability or when they actually sign, where they're assigned in the organization, etc. Just a thought. :-)
  7. Wonder if we'll find out he's battling some type of injury.
  8. For these past three games, I use the "double play" feature on DirecTV to record/watch both broadcasts at the same time. It's comical to see how Len & JD call a game or even just have conversation in between plays as opposed to Douche and Douchier. I watch something happen on one broadcast (like a close pitch) and then flip over and watch the same play on the other. Talk about a difference in professionalism.
  9. Hawk just went ape [expletive] after a missed call on a game-ending potential RBI. "Uh, oh...........Can't get him! Oh no! (pause)No! (pause) No! (very long pause) No!" I actually laughed out loud! :-)) Hawk no-likey Angel Hernandez! http://sports.yahoo.com/video/hawk-reacts-double-play-call-050000548.html I swear, if someone could make a "remix" with different cuts of him and the nonsense he says, it would be GOLD!
  10. Because I love baseball. I actually get some satisfaction listening to that old coot b!tch and whine about everything when the Sox are losing/playing poorly. I know I shouldn't, but it's quite fun!
  11. Hawk Harrelson agrees.
  12. He's becoming Harry Caray in his final years: old, angry, embarrassing, unprofessional. I noticed the last couple of games Hawk's made it a point to interject into the broadcast "Baseball is about defense and pitching" and "TWTW". What a complete douche!
  13. Didn't read this whole thread, so forgive me if already stated, but: Rizzo doing far better against lefties than righties. Wonder if he's more focused about putting the ball in play against lefties as opposed to hitting for power against righties.
  14. Judging from the attendance, I'd swear that was a game played circa 1981 or so.
  15. #21 was pretty skinny!
  16. How much $$ would the Cubs realistically need top absorb before the season to make Soriano worth trading for?
  17. She looks like Peter Gammons....which is not a good thing for either of them.
  18. Did Jed specify which field?? :-k
  19. Not to mention Castro at short. But Steve Stone says Castro is not a MLB SS. I heard him say it several times. [-X
  20. Ask her, she'd know. http://img.poptower.com/pic-64254/bridesmaids-movie.jpg?d=600

  22. I'm wondering if BearClaw's true name is Frankie. And I'll bet he's from Hollywood!
  23. Forgive me if this has been answered already, but my eyes can't really take reading through 200+ pages of the other "Theo" thread. But I have a couple of questions: -The Red Sox have authorized the Cubs to negotiate a contract, which apparently has already been agreed to. Can Theo "advise" the Cubs as to what he thinks they should give up to the Red Sox? -If he's not allowed to advise the Cubs concerning compensation, is he allowed to "renegotiate" his deal with the Cubs, thus allowing him to "advise" the Cubs under the table? -What would the Red Sox gain by not allowing him to advise the Cubs on a compensation package? It's not like he's gonna "pull one over" on the Sox brass. -If he's not in the compensation negotiations, shouldn't he be (assuming he's allowed to be by the Sox)? Maybe what Randy Bush thinks is too much, Theo would think is worth it. Like I said, sorry if this is already mentioned in the other thread. But it's too long for me to check. Thanks!
  24. I think the owner's prints are on this hire. And it's a P.R. move first and a baseball move second. Reinsdorf basically said so in the first line of his statement: "Robin is one of the most popular and highly regarded players in this franchise's history." Ventura has zero coaching experience and has only been back in MLB in a limited capacity) since June of this past summer. This hire is akin to splittings 10s in blackjack. It may end up working out, but it's the wrong move no matter how you slice it.
