  1. He'll end up in Boston, New York or Anaheim.
  2. The Yankees don't need anyone in their farm system to replace Jeter. They'll just outspend everyone for the best available player at a given position.
  3. Looks like Ricketts just wants his own guy in there. Nothing wrong with that.
  4. Didn't read the whole thread, but what about going after Victor Martinez as an everyday 1B. He's only a year older than Dunn and makes less. I don't know that the Red Sox will let him walk, but he may want to get out from behind the plate to prolong his career.
  5. Career .167 hitters in the bigs (Castillon, although Hill not much better), so he obviously wasn't ready for the call up!!
  6. Poor decisions is a two-way street in this story.
  7. I'd dump the waaaayyy overdone "7th inning guest conductor" thing before the "Go Cubs, Go!".
  8. Unless you weren't serious.....Soriano doesn't seem to have the coordination to play an infield position, let alone first base. I know he's a former second baseman, but he seems awkward on just about anything hit to him.
  9. Prado is out a week to 10 days, not 4 to 6 weeks. So I was off by a month....stop nitpickin'!
  10. Minor leaguer or eventually Z once he's stretched out.
  11. I like Theriot....just not as a starter for the Cubs. He's versatile for a bench player. But I don't think any aspect of his game would be considered "above-average".
  12. Prado is out 4-6 weeks with a broken knuckle. Anyone think the Braves would be interested in Fontenot?
  13. Don't know if it was mentioned anywhere else, but Bruce Levine said yesterday on AM1000 (WMVP) that he expected Theriot to be the first Cub player traded, and sounded as if it were an almost certainty.
  14. I'd woo Whitey Herzog. He's a "Hall of Famer" after all.
  15. Chicks dig the sac fly, and Soriano will be paid like the KING of sac fliers. :P HeHeHeHe! He said "sac".
  16. I prefer "douche" to jerk. What a loser. F him. He just became one of my most hated baseball players.
  17. ESPN Insider has a line saying "Lilly to Yanks Has Legs". I'm not an insider, so I don't now the whole story.
  18. For those interested, Jake Peavy just threw a fastball and looks like he seriously injured his elbow, shoulder or arm. He immediately walked to the dugout and then into the clubhouse. Not looking too good for the Jake.
  19. Wasn't he a trade/FA target of a lot of posters here a while back? Not very good of late.
  20. I thought the biggest reason to hate the Juan Pierre trade was Juan Pierre.
  21. Yes, he's a bitter conceited jerk. Whatever. But that doesn't make him wrong. Also, he is allowed to have an opinion JUST LIKE YOU. You don't have to be a [expletive] manager to have an opinion. On top of that he spent decades playing the game at the highest levels. I just...ugh. Come on man, he has the right to speak his mind, and Piniella has the right to call him a jerk. Everyone is entitled to their opinion or there's no purpose to sports analyzing in the first place. Piniella is old and stupid and senile and getting thin skin - end of story on that. Where am I suggesting Stone doesn't have the "right" to have/express his opinion. But just because he has the right to an opinion doesn't mean I have tool agree with him. The difference between Stone and the fans is that Stone gets paid by companies so people like me listen. And as a consumer, I find his constant bitching about the Cubs boring and often unwarranted. IMO, he has an axe to grind, and that's not very professional.
  22. Stone has a hard on for Hendry and will go out of his way in any conversation to blast him. He often does it without saying Hendry's name. But he never holds out. And while Hendry has been less than spectacular as a GM, you would think Stone would have the professionalism to let it go after so many years. But he doesn't. Piniella is right with one of his comments: what has Steve Stone ever done regarding development of a player of a team or anything on the field after his one Cy season? Stone doesn't have to be right about player/managerial decisions because he's just a mouth piece. Stone is a cry baby jackass and I couldn't be happoer that he has to spend so much time in the booth with that other jackass Harrelson!
  23. Yeah. Len was talking about that was going to be finally snapped tonight right as Castro got on base due to the error. Anyone know the record to start a career?
  24. Castro has been on base at least once in every single game he played so far, right?
