  1. I gotta believe this is a short-term move....not that it makes it any better.
  2. You must not be counting Piniella, Hendry or Kaplan.
  3. Soto and Soriano are both hitting tonight. Ought to be batting 3/4 by the weekend.
  4. Braden Looper sucks. But if acquiring him gets Z back in the starting rotation, then sign Looper tonight.
  5. Nice to see the Cubs batters make Perez throw strikes. 11 pitches in the first inning.
  6. He'll be too old by then to be effective.
  7. But Strasburg was in this past year's draft!
  8. Based on the Cubs brass decision making of late: Marmol gets sent down or Dempster gets traded.
  9. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/04/cubs-move-carlos-zambrano-to-bullpen.html
  10. Sometimes I wonder why God made me a Cubs fan.
  11. Silva goes to the pen. He's pitched in relief a lot more in his career than Gorzelanny (same reason I think Marshall wound up in the pen). He and Marshall would be the two 7th/8th inning veterans. And with one being right handed and the other left, that can be an advantage when a match up is necessary. Silva also doesn't walk batters either which is huge in late inning close games. Zambrano -R Lilly - L Dempster - R Wells - R Gorzellany - L Marmol - R Marshall - L Silva - R Gray - R Grabow - L Russell - L Berg - R Nice combination of righties and lefties all around. Shark - Undrafted NFL FA
  12. While I don't think the BP is gonna be great (in its current form), isn't the sample size of it's performance pretty small to get too alarmed just yet? I'm not thrilled with some of the younger guys performances yet, but I'm willing to give them more than just a couple of innings to show something. And with Lilly coming back, one of the vets (most likely Silva as he's a righty to compliment Marshall) will be added. A week and a half into the season is a bit early to panic.
  13. He's already provided more productivity than I thought we'd get from the trade.
  14. Don't know if it matters much, but Marshall has come out of the pen a heck of a lot more in his career than Gorzelanny has. Maybe it's not so much who the better starter would be, but rather, who the better guy out of the bullpen would be.
  15. Drop the spliff, drop the weight. "I have a lot of energy. I used to be tired a lot." Blazin' up tends to have that effect.
  16. I'd assume if the Cubs got Lowell, they most likely try to flip him in another trade?
  17. I guess they figure he can call good games for the young pitching staff. But $6 million  Yikes!!
  18. This is a useless assertion without pictures. http://www.facebook.com/profile/pic.php?oid=AAAAAQAQLuJd0J8Hbe63bOzIyzQ8fAAAAAmNyUEwYCBtFx84iIzXPKro&size=normal http://www.thesoapdispenser.com/files/amanda-aardsma_446x297.jpg http://multimedia.heraldinteractive.com/images/0d19cb8f82_aardsma_02282009.jpg
  19. Cotts to Cubs - ineffective and injured. Vasquez to White Sox - Never made it out of minor leagues, and not in organization anymore; Aardsma to White Sox - Ineffective and no longer in organization after being traded for Willy Mota and Miguel Socolovich; currently a potential All-Star closer for Mariners (*also has an incredible HOT sister!!!). A win for Hendry?
  20. I didn't read all 36 pages (sorry, it's too damn long), but is there ANY possibility the Cubs keep Bradley? Any possibility he rolls into Spring Training with the Cubs while they look for a suitable trading partner. Or any chance he's on the Opening Day roster?
