  1. you weren't the only one that noticed it. i hope ramirez did chew him out. Aramis was smiling during one of the shots they showed. It sure looked like they were talking about the bounce off the wall and they definitely weren't arguing. Again why should he have chewed him out? Because he took a good route to the ball and it took a bad bounce? He was in perfect fielding position, but the ball hit the seam and skipped way off to the right.
  2. And now ESPN is reporting that Randa has been traded to the Padres for two Minor leaguers to fill Nevin's spot.
  3. That wasn't Todd's fault, he was in good position. It just took a horrible bounce.
  4. Well if we can get past Mahoney, PH and Eckstein, Hairston will have a chance for a 5-hit night and Walker will get ANOTHER chance at redemption.
  5. I agree. In an extra innings game like this with the pitchers spot coming up, I don't really blame him for not going to a pinch-hitter there.
  6. Alright it's going to be tough to get a run here, but if we can we'll only face Mahoney, PH and Eckstein in the bottom half.
  7. I really didn't think Glendon was going to get through that inning.
  8. Does anyone else have the sick feeling that we're about to witness a John Rodriguez walk-off home run? I'm getting flashbacks to So Taguchi and Kerry Robinson...
  9. We sent Corey down for grounding into double plays?
  10. Not trying to drag this out or get in an argument, but he jogs out every ground ball and potential DP ball.
  11. Regardless he still needs to start hustling and this isn't the first time it's been a problem.
  12. He's not THAT slow when he hustles. That definitely should have been two. It skipped past Rodriguez and then Edmonds fell when he was getting it.
  13. Bob is as irritated as I am about Aramis never hustling.
  14. Because driving a ball to the wall is a bad thing?
  15. It is pretty amazing. Every year they seem to turn it on when it gets hot. The Astros are turning into the A's of the National League in that regard.
  16. I'm a big Kearns guy and have been for a while. The cost will/should be much lower than Dunn and the upside is huge.
  17. This is the right move, let's just hope Dempster has the control to not walk Kearns.
  18. Let me preface this by saying that I think Dunn would be a big upgrade on our offense and I would love to have him. But today is the perfect example of why hitters like Dunn and Bellhorn can be extremely frustrating. He was batting with the bases loaded against Roberto Novoa with 1 out in the 7th. He got behind in the count 0-2, then took a beautiful fastball on the inside corner, but it was called a ball. After another ball, he looked at another fastball right over the heart of the plate for strike 3. That isn't the time to hack at anything close and help the pitcher, but it's also not the time to just look for a walk. The same thing happened quite a bit with Bellhorn. I love the fact that they don't chase a pitch or swing at a pitch they know they can't hit and weakly ground into two. But when you're supposed to be the best hitter on your team and one of the best in the league, you just can't look at two Novoa fastballs for strike 3 with the bases loaded, down by one.
  19. What an idiotic statement. Cubs fans have stood by their team for nearly 100 freakin years. We are allowed to be harsh on under-acheivers after all the crap we have had to endure. Exactly how many of the fans at Wrigley or fans on this board have stood by the team and "endured all the crap" for nearly 100 years? Most of the fans booing Corey have probably been a Cubs fan for 10-25 years, perhaps less in many cases. In reality they haven't gone longer without a championship than the Brewers, White Sox, Padres, Giants, Indians or Rangers fans.
