  1. This team has no heart. Playoff teams don't come back to win games when trailing heading into the 9th. We're now 2.5 games out, the season is over.
  2. Ramirez on deck. No DP ball here Barrett, be patient.
  3. Someone missed a sign there. Either Cedeno wasn't supposed to be running or Murton wasn't supposed to be bunting.
  4. What's the over/under on when a thread gets started on Transactions saying we should be sellers?
  5. Looking at things logically instead of making a knee-jerk reaction is a loser's mentality? THE EXACT SAME THINGS WERE SAID THE LAST TWO YEARS! I'm convinced that some people just simply don't understand that this is a 162 game season. Our offense is hot and cold, we'll bust out of it and go on a tear for a week or so like we have all year.
  6. I disagree. There a couple of good teams playing for the WC. Astros right about now areplaying probably the best baseball in the majors. Things have changed since 2003. Things changed since last year? These exact comments were made last year. Then we played good baseball and were in position to wrap up the Wild Card until a collapse in the last week. The Astros were better in 2003 than they are now and they were better last year than they are this year.
  7. Do some of you people not remember anything from the last two years? Every time we lose a game to a poor team, people say we have no heart and "playoff teams don't lose these games." In 2003 we lost a lot of games like this at this point in the season and everyone said we had no chance at the playoffs and the season was over. We made the playoffs. The same thing happened last year and we were in position to seal the Wild Card in the final week of the year. No one in the Wild Card race is that good this year and we're within 3 games.

  9. Brownlie, more than likely. No way. Probably Pinto. Still I don't see that working for Texas if you're asking them to give up Soriano AND Delluci. Bellhorn has been awful this year and lost his job in Boston.
  10. Yes of course they'd do it. They're saving a bunch of money, getting a major upgrade at 2B and getting a cheap LF who has been very productive this year and losing the distraction of Manny. The problem is making it work for the Cubs and Rangers. How do you propose we land Soriano and Delluci?
  11. Back to the original. Do we need a leftfielder? Because of our Manager we can't answer that question. We can spend money and block kids but we can't answer the question. What was your point? Holy cow. My point was that you said no deal would help, and that's insane. There's always a deal that can help any team, regardless of who they already have. The right deal isn't always available, but there's always spots on your team that you can upgrade. You're saying a deal won't help us and that's plain wrong. You're saying Manny Ramirez wouldn't help? You'd rather have Murton in LF everyday, than Manny?
  12. Seriously what are you talking about? The only thing I asked you is how you could say that a deal wouldn't help. It's ridiculous.
  13. Really? Yes really. Hollandsworth for July: .206 .271 .365 .637 I don't remember, was Patterson that bad? The first move, fire Dusty. What? Isn't Hollandsworth's poor line the reason for making a deal in the first place? So adding Soriano (or any upgrade) to LF doesn't help?
  14. I'm sorry, but that's not very realistic. So who is getting what prospects from what teams? I don't see how that helps the Rangers at all, unless the prospects are Felix Pie or Hanley Ramirez. They're giving up Soriano and Delluci plus a reliever and only getting Corey, Wellemeyer and some decent prospect? That's an awful deal from their perspective. The last thing Boston is going to do is trade an arm from their bullpen and not get one in return. They're looking to add bullpen help, not subtract from it. The Cubs are getting a ridiculously good deal and the Rangers are getting absolutely fleeced.
  15. I don't know why people can't see through the comments Dusty made. He's said the same thing basically every other time a player has come back from an injury.
  16. Because Walker is a very good hitter and they're about equal defensively at 2B. My guess is that Soriano would be better in LF than Walker.
  17. I know people will complain about Murton batting 6th while Neifi is 2nd. But if you put Murton up to the 2 spot, your 6-9 is Macias, Neifi, Blanco and Prior.
  18. Yeah if Crasnick is right and that's what Texas is asking for, he's right. There's no way Jim gives that up.
  19. I understand what you're saying, but the situations are very different. I don't think anyone in the media said Nomar was a distraction until last year, they loved him. Much of it was spin control to justify trading away their golden boy. Manny has been considered a distraction and has done things to warrant that for years now. Nomar never played the game lacksadaisically like Manny has either. The things JC listed are the big ones, but there have been plenty of others. The organization has been fed up with it a number of times and some teammates apparently were fed up with it after he refused to play the other night (even though they had 2 off days in 5 days). Again I'm not saying I don't want Manny and those offensive numbers would have an enormous impact on our offense. I'm just saying that people can't just completely dismiss any flaws that he has.
  20. :mamoru: But, her point is not that he isnt good, but that he may be a distraction off the field. But, you gotta remember that they said some of these same thigns about nomar. I don't remember Nomar being a distraction off the field. They said he was quiet and kept to himself in the locker room, but not much worse than that. To compare Nomar and Manny off the field is like comparing Nomar and Neifi on the field.
  21. So we're giving up Patterson, Murton, Remlinger, Rusch and a prospect just for Manny? They bettter be paying about half of his remaining contract then. Plus Texas is giving up Delluci and Soriano but only getting Patterson, Rusch and a pitching prospect in return? That seems low. Boston is making out like bandits in that deal while the other two teams are getting fleeced. Manny's a superstar. Yeah he is. What's your point? That's still not an even deal. Why would Texas give up Delluci and Soriano for Patterson, Rusch and a minor league pitcher? They wouldn't. So Boston unloads a contract they've been trying to get rid of AND lands a top 5 prospect in their system, AND gets a replacement for Manny making about $20M less with a .900+ OPS AND one of the best second baseman in the game, AND an arm in their bullpen. It's simply not realistic and of the three teams, two are getting fleeced while one is getting the deal of the decade.
  22. Would Theo have interest in Soriano?? Delucci, Soriano, Murton, Remlinger to Boston Manny to Chicago Patterson, Rusch and Cub pitching prospect to TX So we're giving up Patterson, Murton, Remlinger, Rusch and a prospect just for Manny? They bettter be paying about half of his remaining contract then. Plus Texas is giving up Delluci and Soriano but only getting Patterson, Rusch and a pitching prospect in return? That seems low.
