  1. lets see... Well my dad is a pretty avid card collector so we get a lot of autographs. Some of the ones i can think of off the top of my head are -Nolan Ryan (met in person) -Fergie Jenkins (met in person) -Mickey Mantle (bought over the web, but actual autograph, and only owners of the autograph) -Ryne Sandberg(met in person) I know he has more, but i cant think of them right now. Hope to get some more recent players autographs at somepoint, but not too many of them now as far as i know.
  2. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060110&content_id=1293665&vkey=hotstove2005&fext=.jsp So Jones aparently is already appreciating what all of us have realized for many years, there is no replacement to Wrigley Field. My Question is, he says, ""My body was saying, 'Thank you,'" Jones said Tuesday at an introductory news conference. "There's no substitute for grass."" I'm assuming he's not the only one who feels this way, and you always hear about players having to sit out while playing on astroturf, but why do they still have astroturf fields? Does anyone know they havent moved to the fake grass like football has?
  3. I know all of you know he was traded for 2 minor league prospects from the orioles today, but dont you think he still is worth more then that? also, what are some of your all-time favorite corey moments
  4. 28 ) Wrigley field is still the greatest ball park in baseball, we just can fit 1000 more fans into the games in october now 27 ) Every possible curse has been killed, therefore we cant be cursed in 2006!
  5. all i was saying is that now in Washington he feels wanted again, and will hopefully preform upto his pontential. Unfortunatley none of us know if he will ever play at that level again. hopefully i got across what i am trying to say this time
  6. well yes, but he felt like he wasnt a good player in texas, after the yankees said adios, now the nationals WANT him to be there, so he will preform like he did as a yankee. But that's why they play the game
  7. i dont know about that. Last year in texas he had an off year where as other 2B's had good years. I think in Washington this year he will be back to his normal self. And as for the rest of the 2B's...they will go back to how they were previously
  8. Catcher - Victor Martinez 1st Base - Albert Pujols 2nd Base - Alfonso Soriano (assuming he will play it this year) 3rd Base - Alex Rodriguez SS - Miguel Tejada LF - Miguel Cabrera CF - Carlos Beltran RF - Vladamir Gurerro Bench - Derek Lee, Derek Jeter, Joe Mauer, David Ortiz, and Ichiro SP1 - Roy Halladay SP2 - Mark Mulder SP3 - Barry Zito SP4 - Roy Ozwalt SP5 - Carlos Zambrano Set Up - Brad Lidge and Eric Gagne Closer - Mariano Rivera Ofcourse this team would need a few more players on the roster, but this would work quite well im guessing
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2130788 haha wow....what's with broadcasters these days. It's like he's asking to get fired...so the cubs can hire him to manage!
  10. the reason i said gaieti was because he always played very smart baseball *aka none of these stupid errors that have become a cubs habit* and also was apart of many winning teams. As for Lee Smith, i figured that because he WAS a closer that he'd know how to manage a bullpen *again unlike baker* as well as how to go against the other bullpens. And i have no idea why Ryno shouldnt be considered to manage. And my dad was joking...is yogi berra still available to coach
  11. "I know, I know I know... "why the Macias hate? he's a great 25th man". blah, blah, blah. He still sucks." thats the problem though, he's a good 25th man...who happens to be starting? yeah we need to get rid of him...and like yesterday
  12. Why arent all of these hall of fame caliber players *and hall of fame for ryno* talking with the cubs about all of these mistakes. After the game when 3 pitchers failed to cover 1st base, you saw Maddux talk with Dusty about what to do *meaning maddux knows more then dusty*, and while listening to the radio, santo has all sorts of suggetions on what to do to help the team. Now if Dusty were wanting to keep his job, he would request the assitance of these players to try and turn around the team. My question to all of you is...Would any of the former cubbies *including girardi* be an inspiration to this team to win one for the organization, because dusty just doesnt do it. Possible managers would include the 3 mentioned above, Billy williams, Girardi, Gaieti, and what about Lee Smith? Thats just a few ideas of guys who from my "expert" opinion could inspire these guys to win. Also, could maddux technically be the pitching coach and a player at the same time?
  13. I am just wondering, with a trade happening in august, do all players involved have to clear waivers, or just the player who is the person going to the contender. Because if the minor leaguers or who ever is being traded would have to clear waivers, few trades would go through. So if anyone is certain on how these deals go down, please explain in simple terms. Thanks
  14. Touche....game set and match for neely crenshaw. I definatley dont believe this article now
  15. With another good pitch or even two, people will be comparing him to Barry Zito. Both tall lefties, with devestating curveballs. But untill that day, dont count on too many good outings in the majors:( . His curveball was starting to be hit a little bit on the 30th, and it will only get worse from here on out
